CRYING AT NIGHT
Hi All, can i get a bit off advice please, i have had Lacy for 4 days now i have the usual problems of peeing issues but the one i cannot control is her sleeping at night, i have bought a cage for her, she does not mind going in throw the day when we are there but when it comes to bedtime when we leave her she does nothing but cry, we have left her for about a hour but have to go down because she does not stop, we lay on the settee next to her cage and she goes to sleep after a while, is this normal and how can i stop her crying, she is 10 weeks old, thanks in advance.

Re: CRYING AT NIGHT
Yes, this is completely normal. I just went through the same thing with my Sancho who is almost 14 weeks old. We have had him for almost 5 weeks and up until last week, I was getting up 1-2 times a night to take him out to pee/poop and he even started crying until I laid on the couch near his crate last week, which was something new. I had to do this two nights in a row and that's it. With that said I did not let him out of his crate either time - my presence was enough to calm him down. As of this week he is sleeping through the night (approximately 10:00 PM until 6:15 AM). I actually had to wake him up once this week! So do not worry - it will get better. My advice is to make sure she is tired when its bed time. Try not to let her nap too much when its getting near that time. Exercise her as well (walks, playing fetch, etc.). She is still a baby and will get used to her new routine soon enough. Just have patience and everything will fall into place. Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: CRYING AT NIGHT
As you can see from Sancho's mum above, it does get better and the advice offered is all good. One other thing you could try is leaving an old item of clothing that you've worn and has your scent on in the crate with Lacy, it might just be enough of a comfort to let her sleep.
