Hi everyone,Vinny had his first course of injections tonight which went well. His weight was checked and he was 2.3kg. Is this about right for a 8 week old male?I know they all vary but does that seem ok?

To be honest weight at that age doesn't really account for much, it's much better to go on looks and a healthy appetite. As long as Vinny has a good appetite, is growing and you can feel the ribs but not see them then you'll not go far wrong.

Having said all that, someone with a younger Staff than mine might be able to say if that's about average weight for age.

He is eating fine and is a nice shape etc.Any other food I can give him other than the dry food he is on.I have mixed in a little meat but after 3 feeds his poo was getting very soft.

As you've noticed, changing food can upset their tums so change it little by little to avoid any nasty messes. As for other foods for puppies I'm not so sure as I haven't had a pup for a long time but I'm sure someone will offer some suggestions Smile

weight isn't really important, as such, at the moment - his shape & general appearance is more important. if he's growing well, with a healthy appetite & loads of energy then you're okay!

what food are you giving him at the moment?

He is on JW dry puppy food. Occasionally I mix in a small bit of meat in with it.I have done a bit more research and he is in good shape and very active. He likes a nap after a good run around lol.

When mine had his vaccination at 9 weeks he weighed in at 2.6kg so sounds good to me. My vet was pleased with his weight.
