Luna the 5 month old pup
Hi everyone I'm new to this.
I wonder if anyone could help me.
I'm currently in the process or training luna. Very hard to toilet train doesn't listen. Doesn't chew to much but she has always been very snippy and will run after you or go for you if she is bored or doesn't like something. Is a total jeckle and Hyde.
I don't know if anyone can help me with my problems as she has started to really scare me with her outbursts
Thank you,

Re: Luna the 5 month old pup
Hi ya, welcome to the forum from Flo & me
Don't be scared by the running after you, she isn't being aggressive just wanting to play (they don't know real aggression at that age) but I do understand that you really want to keep away from those sharp teeth.
With toilet training it's a case of taking her outside every few hours and waiting till she's done what you need her to do and then tons of praise and treats, keep repeating this even through the cold evenings and I promise she will get the idea.
If she starts to nip you redirect her to a toy that she can munch on so that you reinforce the idea that people aren't toys but toys are OK to chew.
We would love to see some pics of Luna when you get time

Re: Luna the 5 month old pup
Hi from me & Katy, great advise from Ian there. Don't be scared of her, they can be little buggers at that age. When we 1st got Katy we had about 2 months where we didn't dare take our shoes off as she always went for our feet!!!! They soon get out of it with teaching them that toys are much more fun so bare with it

Re: Luna the 5 month old pup
As the others said, she's not being aggressive, just playful. Try ignoring her when she does behaviour you don't want, then ask her to sit or something quiet and THEN play with her and make a fuss. In other words, give her what she wants (attention) for doing what you want, and when she's doing what you don't want give her nothing.
They do grow up, though, so don't worry, these testing phases don't last forever.

Una joined us at 6 and a bit months - she was exactly as you describe Luna. As Jen said, a right little bugger and had me in tears in the bathroom countless times as she wouldn't stop jumping and biting.
I stalked through the posts on this forum, it was such a great find and all the advice has helped us in getting Una to understand that we're not chew toys ... it really doesn't last forever. Una has an occasional leash or cuff moment but these are becoming less and less. You can do this

Re: Luna the 5 month old pup
hiya welcone from me and mia the key with regards to the toilet training is take her out soon after eating sleeping and playing plenty praise when she does do her business outside use a specific command and keep repeating over and over. may be useful to take her on grass where another dog has gone this will make it easier .

Re: Luna the 5 month old pup
Rocco soon got the hang of toilet training. When he did it I'd be excited and positive like "YAY wee wees" and give him a treat. Very quickly he started to look up at me for a treat after doing his business. He knew what I wanted him to do when he was taken outside. The key is consistency

might be an idea to look at her food as well - if she's getting a bit hyper at times it could be because something in her food is causing it.

Just flicking through this thread to take a little advice myself. And it's just amazing how helpful everyone is here on the forum. I'm a forum user and have been for some time. And I can honestly say you all seem like one of the friendliest bunch of people I've ever met! ☺
