Stella
There is already a post about this case in the news section, but I felt that a post in chat may generate more views.
Stella is still alive for now but she only has 6/7 more days to live. There are very mixed opinions regarding her behaviour - especially now that she has been locked up for 2 years without exercise or any real interaction, but it would also be awful for her to die for the mistakes of the authorities when there are sanctuarys willing to take her if a home wasn't an option.
Her owner/the kennel hand are in contact with solicitors and DDA watch, but they have said that if he owner disputes he may be liable for the kennel costs plus legal fees which are already in excess of 16k.
If you don't know about Stella's story, read here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-35635935
EDIT: I don't usually like The Sun but the footage of her here and her kennel hand Laura talking offer another angle to the story.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6964438/Fury-as-police-lock-up-dog-in-tiny-cage-without-exercise-for-two-year.html
Here is the petition if you wish to sign:

Re: Stella
Signed.
I don't know if this will save poor Stella as it may be that the treatment she has had to endure has pushed her beyond her limits. However, not only would it be criminal not to give her the chance, it is also essential that the police know the extent of the feeling against what they have done, and for them to realise that they must never, ever, ever do this again.

Oh I Hope so!! I know Dda watch have been in contact with the sanctury too. Fingers crossed, although won't this completely disprove that she is aggressive. Hope the police don't refuse this offer on the basis that they will be shown to be wrong.

Re: Stella
It's always interesting to hear the other side of the story - there so often is one. I still think it's wrong to keep Stella like this, but maybe the D&C Police aren't quite as dreadful as the first shock news reports make out. No, I'm not saying they are entirely innocent, but not total devils either.

Just heard that Wheldon Law are now working on Stellas case and an application for leave to appeal has been lodged. They have also instructed a leading dog law barrister called Pamela Rose to represent their client.
Does anyone know of her? I'm hopeful as I know Wheldon Law help a lot of dogs and owners. Fingers crossed for Stella x

Re: Stella
A second case emerged today of a Rottweiler, also held without exercise for 2 years, in the kennel next to Stella. This is not the isolated case that the police are claiming it to be.
Wheldon law have done great things with the DDA watch. I haven't heard of Pamela. I'm just hoping this is not going to be Lennox all over again.

Re: Stella
I have heard that the rspca have issued a statement saying they are going to work with the Cornwall and Devon police on how they process seized dogs.
The whole thing is just utterly horrific, can't stop thinking about dogs locked up in a tiny cell with no exercise. If a member of the public did this they would be arrested ( and rightly so) for animal cruelty.

Re: Stella
I'm so sad that these poor dogs have suffered for so long, but I'm very pleased about how much awareness has been raised. I've worked at an absolutely brilliant RSPCA centre that walks their seized dogs daily and gives them lot of extra fuss, so thankfully this isn't the case in all kennels. Hopefully it's giving the poorly run kennels a kick up the butt to get their practices up to scratch!

And more...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-35745344
I couldn't quite believe I read this bit right, 'Mr Clark said: "The three pit bull terrier pups came in at 11 weeks. They were initially exercised before deteriorating so much they were deemed unsafe.' They claim they believed the former owner had trained them to attack... at ELEVEN WEEKS??? I'm sorry, but the only way these pups would have become aggressive would have been through the way they were handled while in kennels.

Re: Stella
No, it's not fair on her at all. But, I think this is the last hurdle and it would be a shame to not try now after all this. It would also be fantastic for her to be released and then to on to prove that she's not dangerous, and so really underline the message of how wrong this all is. Because she's hit the headlines she is important for the overall cause, for other dogs to come.
Not that she knows any of that.

Not that it's any help for the way that she was been treated for the past 2 years, but she is now apparently being exercised also.

Re: Stella
That's strange, she was a menace to society when the public didn't know about her and such a dangerous dog that it wasnt safe for her to be exercised. Now the public are outraged Stella is suddenly safe to be exercised? Hmmmmm doesn't this prove she wasn't dangerous in the first place but obviously the Police will never admit that.
It is great that she is finally being exercised.

Re: Stella
Just caught up on this and so so shocking... If I kept my two in for a few days they wouldn't be dangerous but would exhibit behavior that could be interpreted as dangerous. jumping up mouthing and generally being overly excited. imo the police are setting the dogs up to fail especially as a DLA has the option of allowing a dog to stay with its owners under strict guidelines if not deemed to be an imminent danger to the public. DDA is flawed and I have to say gives people not in the know the impression that any dog not on the banned list is safe to approach which we all know is wrong.
