Really sorry - Need advice!!
First of all, i apologise because this post will be here 100 times, but I can't find what im looking for.
My little Charlie boy is just over 1 year old, beautiful healthy active little lad.
Durham animal Feed is right round the corner from me, so I am going to start feeding raw, it interests me and benefits the dog like no tomorrow by the looks of the benefits!
My question is ... Where on earth do i start?!
I was going to put an order through tonight, but I don't even know what I need to order?!
Can someone be so kind as to maybe give me a rough inventory as to what I need to be looking for?
Thank you thank you thank you

Here's a good read to get you started Mic https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t49380-raw-diets-frequently-asked-questions
There are loads of good threads in this section, look for the one started by Bane
I'm not a raw feeder so can't really offer any great advice

Re: Really sorry - Need advice!!
I must say, i've just had a quick read through the first pages of Bane (hellish idea to start a log!)
He has actually written up a list of what he ordered in his batch.
So, back to DAF online to trawl through and add to basket haha!
And looks like ill be going down the clearance store tomorrow for a chest freezer!

Re: Really sorry - Need advice!!
So I am getting to grips with what I might need now, and have put an order together! Basically just copied Banes haha!
I have been reading on it for 3/4 hours tonight and might have overfried my brains!
When i get the packet of minced chicken ... Do i have to mix that with anything or just defrost and feed!?
Information overload today.

I'm no expert but from what I've read, defrost and feed... It's as easy as that

Re: Really sorry - Need advice!!
Hi there,
The first thing to remember about raw is that it is easy! Like anything else, you need to go steady at first but you'll get the hang of it very quickly. I have fed raw for years, 6 dogs in total, and only had transition problems with one of them. The others have had no issues at all. The one who had a brief problem was straight out of rescue and we did have to mix dry with raw (not ideal) for a couple of days, and the first time she saw a bone we could have been trying to feed her the fire poker! But, once she got into it, she never looked back!
Start with chicken/turkey as they are easily digestible. Give that a few days, then introduce other meats, but go easy on offal to start off with as it is rich (especially liver) and can give them the runs. Try things like wings as crunchy treats as well.
You don't need to add anything, just stick it in the bowl. If you find Charlie gulps it down in one mouthful, add water to slow him down. You can add carbs/fruit/veg if you like, ours get the odd left over spud, pasta, veg, and they love things like carrots and apples (without the pips).
If you find it does suit you all, a freezer space is a must. Because we have 3 dogs, we have a catering size freezer that I managed to find on Gumtree for £40.
A couple of practical tips - we have a tub with a lid to defrost in. You'll find it's a magnet for flies in the summer otherwise. And we then have a plastic bag we keep in the freezer for the old bags as again you'll end up with problems with your bin. Just pop them in the freezer and put them out on bin day.
I'll keep an eye on this thread for you, for the other 99 question you come up with!

Re: Really sorry - Need advice!!
Thank you everyone for the replies! Thanks Liz, just been out freezer shopping this afternoon! Never even thought of gumtree so will have a look on there now.
I overdone the research last night totally fried my brain.
I am hopeful to have my first order delivered on Friday to start him off on Saturday, Im off work this weekend so I can keep my eye on him!
The more and more i think, of his extra weight, less muscle definition, hyperactive, smelly wind .... It all started when i moved him from his Arden grange pup food to Wagg adult ... Since then, ive learnt that Wagg is the worst of the worst!
Ill start a little diary off for him, its a good way for others to learn and us to note his progress!

I'm really lazy, I just get mine out of a tub. Natural Instincts. I like the convenience of it as it tells me how much I need to feed. Hope you get on well with it all. We were really lucky and were given a trunk freezer from a friend but you can get them on ebay.
