Every so often Jett growls and bares his teeth.he then tries to hump my leg, when i go to stand up and distract him he bites and it's not play biting he actually means it.I've tried distracting him with toys and banging his empty dish with his nylabone.None of it seems to work.
Any tips???

the best thing to do is ignore him, staffies hate this, he is probally teething frozen carrots worked with billy, just make sure there are lots of things for him to chew.

From the sounds of it, to me, he's displaying a lot of dominant behaviour and seems to be trying to take over leadership of the pack.

Especially obvious with his leg humping, as well as the growling - both are signs of a dominant struggle.

My advice is to look into that, and do what you can to reaffirm your place. Feed him after he's watched you eat. Review all of his training/discipline again, and basically just start over from scratch. He'll soon remember everything and find his place in line.

Yes I agree with Kerrby its definatly dominant behavior as soon as you think he is going to try to mount you push him down and show him your not happy. Its important to be firm and state your position as leader a dominant dog will every so often show you little challenges and although sometimes they might be funny its important to just keep them in line then they know there place stop this now before your dog thinks hes got the divine right to hump you whenever he sees fit Smile
