How did you come up with it/them?

Koda = my hubby was born in Papua New Guinea, which has the Kokoda Trail, hence i came up with Koda (Kokoda on his papers) Smile

When I first got my boy he was called Nelson. I was told that the previous owner had called him that after his favourite beer: Nelson Mandela... Stella! Surprised

Well I wasn't going to have my dog named after a can of lager Laughing so I changed it to Dizzy as when he was younger he used to chase his tail a lot... sometimes does now if he gets over excited. Plus he was a bit of a rascal too... so Dizzy Rascal! Love Struck

Bug was a stray so the kennels that she was taken into named her cookie.. Before realising that there were multiple other Staffies in the kennels named cookie! So, it was changed to Biscuit! I thought it was cute but it didn't really suit her.. We started calling her Biscuit Bug and it gradually ended up being Bug.. Which seems to be more fitting Smile

When Flo was in hotel Battersea they changed her name from something like Pinder to Fluer as they were naming the dogs after flowers at that time i dont know

She's still called Fluer when she gets accused of some misdemeanour but Flo is much easier on the ear. Sadly for Flo and my youngest son she gets called Dog when out walking as believe it or not she responds to that... I have no idea how or why !!

Misty had another name when we got her. We were thinking of a name for her and I was looking at my Dvds for inspiration... She didn't suit the name Arnie but then I saw the case for Play Misty For Me. That was that and she is Misty now, it works out quite nicely as when she jumps on one of us or destroys a toy, we use the saying... ''We've been mystified' Laughing Laughing

Chaos and Millie came with their names. I probably wouldn't have picked Millie as a name as I like more unusual names, but as she was a foster and we'd got used to calling her that by the time we adopted her it's stayed, with variations on the theme!

Nola came called Nova, which sounds too much like a car. Nola is a diminutive of Finola, which comes from Irish legend and means 'white shoulder', which fits her. So Nola she became.

Milo's mum was taken into the kennels as a stray and they named her Myrtle. When she had 7 pups they were all named after the Ninja Turtles with Milo being Michaelangelo lol. Couldn't call that across the park hence shortened version. She gets called all sorts tho - Milymoo, wilee Milee, Mile aboy etc etc (mad)

My wife asked what "Maverick" ment

My response was "it's means he'll be a pain in the arse"

Although I like the tom cruise film I actually like the Mel Gibson film/ the old TV series first and like the meaning of the name over naming him after someone.

And I wasn't aloud to call him
"Fluffy" re Harry Potter

I was planning on naming her "chika" but everyone thought it's an ugly name...then i wanted to name her "Karma" because i thought it would be funny as in "Karma is a bitch". But then i thought of "Luna" which sounded sweet and comes from a video game character that rides a black panther. Luna also means "moon" in romanian.

And her name in papers is "Nightmare" which was the name chosen by the breeder.

Rio was 3 when he was rescued and he suited his name so we kept it, but I know his last owner would never walk or feed Rio properly, but they did a lot of football watching and he's named after the football player. He still watches it now if we put it on for him

Gizmo is named after the gremlin because when he was a pup he had the most impressive pointy little fangs. Also, he hates getting wet and if you feed him after midnight he farts like a demon.

One of his nicknames is Flump because of how he throws himself down like his legs have collapsed.
