Re: What does your dogs eat?
I use chemistdirect or petmeds as sometimes the prices do vary, personally Moo is on Royal Canin, it is more expensive than supermarket brands but well worth it. She's on wet and dry mix. The delivery is quick usually only takes 3 days and is cheaper than getting it from the vets.

Re: What does your dogs eat?
i feed Katie dry food (royal canin)and biscuits around midday everyday, then at 6pm i give her a lb of raw fresh meat. mainly offal from my local butcher which is quite cheap and to top it off, i pour a spoon of cod liver oil over it (very good for her coat) it goes down a treat,

Re: What does your dogs eat?
i know Janey ive been giving it to her since she was a puppy, when she was registered with the kennel club they sent me out vouchers for royal canin, so i i tried it out, just a way for the kennel club to rope you into buying it for the dog. they probably have shares in the company

Re: What does your dogs eat?
Have no idea about euros/pound but will check it out. I get 24- 420g chicken/rice cans and 4kg dry mix for about £50. Its the sensitivity diet. Does that seem to work out the same? It feeds her for just under a month??

Re: What does your dogs eat?
but the funny thing about it is she would eat any left overs from our meals,
Guest- Guest
Re: What does your dogs eat?
yeah i give her dry food mix, but sometimes i put a bit of boiling water in it to moisten it up, the likes of water if we had boiled bacon, or sometimes the water off the spuds
Guest- Guest
Re: What does your dogs eat?
i also give her raw offal from my butchers, i get a big bag from him once a week for a fiver

Wow, I feed raw & only spend about £25 a month!!!

Caryll your doing well with Dempsey, he a fine looking dog for £25 a month i think we have our dogs spoiled and probably overweight too

Re: What does your dogs eat?
Well, I'm lucky in a way - I get lamb ribs & neck from the local Morrisson's butcher. He puts some aside for me each week and leaves more meat than usual on them & I freeze them, ready for daily defrosting. So he gets a meaty bone every day (either morning or lunchtime) and tripe/offal/raw eggs for his evening meal.
The £25 doesn't include things like treats, though - they're extra!!

Its very expensive but when I first got her she used to have diarea all over the house and it was the only diet that sorted it out, cleaning up poo at 4am is not my idea of fun! Would love to put her on a cheaper diet so any reccomendations are very welcome! Only problem is I don't have a good butchers here, not even a meat counter so the raw food diet is out! Which is a shame cause I would love to put he on it.

Re: What does your dogs eat?
I've not tried it myself, but James Wellbeloved is supposed to be really good - it's hypo-allergenic so it shouldn't muck the stomach up. I think they do a fish-based one which a couple of people I know swear by. But you couls also try http://www.fish4dogs.com/Categories/Dog-Shop/dog-food.aspx. Because it's fish based it doesn't have some of the allergic reactions associated with chicken, beef, pork etc.

Re: What does your dogs eat?
James wellbeloved has changed its ingreadients without warning! It now contains oats where i am sure it never did before which makes it not quite as good as some others!

Re: What does your dogs eat?
We have tried so meny dryfoods (James, Profine, Golden Eagle, Nutro Nuggets, ANF, Franks breederline) and my dog allways has turned my house to gas chamber
Allmost every food was hypo- allergic and some of foods was "gently for stomach" - type. Still I smelled the doggygas
Now we dont have eny stomach problems because I make food for my dog by myself Somebody could call it half- barf or somethin like that but i call it FOOD
The FOOD contains
- Boiled Vegetables (potatoe, carrot, broccoli, garlic, sellery, zuccini, persil, little bit apple)
- Meaty Fat
- Visceral (pig´s or cow´s heart, liver or kidney)
- Basic Nutrolin oil
- Raw meat (pig and beef mix, salmon, mutton or horse meat)
The Vet said that dog is good shape, coat is shining, eyes are bright and there is no eny problems. I don´t smell "gas" enymore in the house so I think we stay for this food
Dry food was so much easier and faster way than this new FOOD, but what we won´t do for the dog?

By all means include veg if you want, but it isn't needed. If you feed it raw & whole they can't digest it. If you boil it you get rid of most of the goodness. The only way dogs can digest veg is if it's pulped & that's fiddly & messy! A dog's digestion isn't like ours. They don't need carbohydrates etc if they are fed raw meat & raw bones. They don't even need biscuits.
We choose to give Dempsey raw carrots & a small amount of biscuits even though they won't do him any good (they don't do any harm, either) because he likes them!

Re: What does your dogs eat?
vegetables, grains, meats and dairy products are all vital components of your dogs diet, these are all found in commercial dog foods and are nutritionally balanced and easily digestible,
