So annoying when...
You are trying to teach your puppy no biting/jumping/pulling but everytime you cross random people in the street they just come straight to your dog petting him, getting him excited and letting him bite.
No matter what you say to them or to your dog, theyr usual response is "oh I know, I love dogs, its ok he bites me"
No its not ok!! you are ruining his training!
Its crazy, and you can not avoid everyone.
Well its not a big issue, but i am sure everyone has this same little problem.

Yup, it can be a real irritant. Some people buy a vest for their dog which says "In training" which makes people stop and think before diving straight in.
If you didn't want to buy a vest you could try making a label for the leash which says somethings similar Chris

Re: So annoying when...
I know, it's been a nightmare teaching Millie not to jump up because of this.
I read a really good tip in a book that's been very great. You say to these people 'I'm trying to train her not to jump up so someone like you who understands dogs could be really helpful, could you wait for her to sit before making a fuss?'. People like to feel that they are being helpful because of their special knowledge and cooperate quite readily.

I am having a similar problem at home. When gets excited she just won't respond to No or Give and just keeps clamping down harder.
I am not looking forward to out in the real world training begins.

Re: So annoying when...
I completely agree. Most people are are just oblivious. They are like: let her jump, she is still a puppy. I have dogs myself, it is ok for her to jump up. Let her have some fun...
And they incite her even more by clicking their vingers, or trying to pet her coming from above with their hand or gesticulating wildly (and then sometimes being surprises she tries to jump up)
There Goes the training out of the window.
And then you try to explains she is still intraining, you do not want her to jump up (not funny with an adult staffy that weighs triple a 3 year Old toddler). Furthermore I try only to award Kiki when she is calm so it really gets annoying sometimes.
Luckily not all people are like this. I have to say that dislike these people more than the ones asking if Kiki is an evil dog or if she bites. I always responds that she only bites evil persons. Does the trick if you see the face of the person thinking if she or hè is evil or not
