Wonder Harness
First topic message reminder :
Well after getting tired of Maya choking herself with collar and lead when out walking, i ordered one of these a couple of days ago
http://www.amazon.co.uk/UNHO%C2%AE-Padded-Harness-Adjustable-Large/dp/B00WG17CVQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446825978&sr=8-1&keywords=unho+dog+harness.
I have to say that i am very very impressed, after adjusting the chest strap a little, out we went for a beautiful walk ( Despite the rain ) No more lunging when waiting to cross the road, and she actually listened to my `wait` command, standing there patiently till safe to cross.
Also, no pulling whatsoever !! Brilliant. It was so nice to walk her with a loose lead, which i could literally just hang off my finger. I have no idea how this harness works, but it does, and it is an absolute pleasure to walk her now.

Re: Wonder Harness
how is Maya doing on her harness - Buddy has started to pull on his - not as much as on the others but definitely more than when I first got it- only on certain walks though wondered if Mayas was still working - Buddy is a bit older than her maybe got the pulling habit a bit more than she has...

She`s still doing very well with it Carol, like i have said in the past she can still pull a little if she want`s to, but in all honesty it`s going great ! Nowhere near as bad as a collar and lead

glad she is doing well on it - as you say still a lot better than the collar - at least when he does pull he doesn't choke himself

Gizmo's is due to arrive next week, hoping I can follow it up with proper training. I didn't really stick to his lessons.

Re: Wonder Harness
Terry thank you so much for this recommendation. I ordered this last week while on hols and it arrived when we got home. I absolutely love this harness, it is lovely and padded and the only one that is sturdy and also hasn't rubbed her or made her sore. To be honest it doesn't stop her pulling at all but I didn't think it would as she is a master of pulling! I think that will stop down to training and I didn't expect a harness to work on her. This is definitely my favorite harness and we have gone through so many to find one that doesn't rub her. Thanks again!

Re: Wonder Harness
Should have got him a medium instead of a large as it's loose, but still really good in terms of not rubbing and seems easier on him over all.
thank you so much for letting us all know about this harness, my arms seriously appreciate it.

You are both Most welcome It`s great when we find something good, and even better when we share ! Maya can still pull if she get`s excited, but she chooses not to 99% of the time, so yes, a massive relief on my arm

Re: Wonder Harness
Joining in, before joining us Una had only ever walked on an extending leash and while she's walking much better on a collar and lead I hate seeing her collar digging into her neck as she pulls. So we bought the harness in a small after reading this post and all the Amazon reviews ... and it came today!
Very excited to try it out on our evening walk and while there was still some pulling there was far more calm walking with looks up at us - such a happier walk We've still got a ways to go, but it helps the training.
Thanks for the recommendation Terry!

Re: Wonder Harness
Yeah, she seems a lot less frustrated as we're walking and crossing the road, slowing down, stopping, turning and so on. I think it's because I'm not pulling at her neck, and an added benefit - because the leash is not at her neck there's less biting of the leash happening!

Yes, i did read somewhere that dogs absolutely hate being led by the neck ( Collar ) Maybe there is some truth in that. Maya is the same now when it comes to stopping at roads, before it was like she had a death wish, and would really lunge at the road, now she listens to me when i say `wait`

Re: Wonder Harness
Been trying to find this post for ages.
Thanks so much for this recommendation. This harness is amazing! Hardly pulls at all, and when j put it on Bonnie, she is instantly calm.
Can j just ask - does anyone know if you can wash it? Mine is getting pretty filthy but daren't wash it incase it breaks or something!

Re: Wonder Harness
It's been okay for us - Una seems to deliberately aim for the muddiest of puddles when we're on the long leash! I've washed it once in a gentle wash in an old pillowcase and so far so good

Yes as far as i`m aware they are fully machine washable, i would suggest fastening the strap though, to stop it flapping about, especially when it`s on full spin.

Another recommendation for this harness. Just back from our first walk with it and virtually no pulling! Such a massive difference from before.

Does anywhere else sell these apart from Amazon as none of the sellers will sell to Ireland?
Also do I need small or a medium for an average to big sized 8 month old?

If i remember correctly i think ebay sell them UNHO dog harness
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Any-Size-UNHO-Adjustable-Soft-Padded-Dog-Harness-100-Genuine-/131638215904?var=&hash=item1ea63fc4e0mtAY5AF4SbSaK8fvj7ukvYg
Last time i weighed maya at 7 months old she was 18.5 Kilo, and the small size still has plenty of room, so i would suggest getting a small.

Re: Wonder Harness
I'm looking at getting Millie another harness as she ate the last one (while on her). My main reservation about this is that it seems quite bulky. How flexible is it? She doesn't really need anything for pulling as she's good on the lead but I want to get her something that doesn't need to go over her head as she's still not 100% with that.

Re: Wonder Harness
It's not bulky when it's on Liz, but it does have to go over the head!

Re: Wonder Harness
Sorry to be a pain as I'm sure this has been asked (but I can't see it!), when you measure the chest measurement do you measure from behind the front legs then across the back and underneath across the chest ? I'm keen to get one of these (need to find a local supplier). Thanks in advance

They are quite a big size Bek, even now Maya`s small one has loads of room for adjustment, so i would suggest getting Koda a small one

Well …. we had our first test with it today !! I LOVE IT !!!! I can honestly say the pulling was reduced by like 90%, came back with no hurt shoulder or burnt hands from the lead being yanked, THRILLED ! He definitely is insecure in it, when I put it on he just stood still for like 5 mins and wouldn't move, when we got out the driveway he looked at me like 'no!' but off we went and just a wee pull when dogs were barking as we walked past, that was all. Amazing ! So happy with it and LOVE that he doesn't choke himself walking with it at all, zero pulling on his neck !! Thank you !!!!

Re: Wonder Harness
After reading all the posts on this harness, I just had to try it!! It arrived on Saturday so early days. Certainly reduced Katy's pulling a heck of a lot But approaching Sunny's gate at the end of the lane it doesn't stop her lunging at him He's DA staffie, lovely with people though Katy is not impressed with it, trying to rub & roll it off but it's not budging Doesn't seem to bother her once we get going, I got her a large as she has a very deep chest, fits beautifully
Here's her modelling it

Re: Wonder Harness
Oh Katy that fits you perfectly, what a top model !! I have found it has definitely reduced Koda's pulling however he still does (& sometimes strong - depends on the day really!), but at least now he's not pulling on a collar around his neck ! & he absolutely hates the harness, runs off when we bring it out (daily walk) & then freezes on the spot when it's on, we've done all the tricks in terms of easing him into it (ie treats, on/off etc.) he just hates it, yet the second we're out the door he seems to forget it's on ! I'm glad you got one, be interested to hear how Katy goes with it !

Re: Wonder Harness
She has been really good about me putting it on her until this morning when she ran & hid under the table I know this trick from her other hate (the Coat) so I put the harness down & offer her the lead which she's happy with. I clip her lead on then get the harness She's absolutely fine once it's on

Re: Wonder Harness
Well on our walk today down to the fields she was absolutely fine, she usually drags me back home but walked quite nicely so I think it is working It's still early days but looking promising, anything is better than hurting her throat

Re: Wonder Harness
I have two of these for Milo altho my husband doesn't walk him in it (don't know why). I love them & Milo looks really smart in it. I find the handle on his back handy too when another dog comes up - just so I have something firm to steady him with. He definitely walks better in it. The only down side is that the belly strap keeps loosening but other than that I recommend them and they're nice and cheap too.
Oh and they are so quick & easy to put on and off.

Re: Wonder Harness
I like the handle too Jenny especially when we see the rat pack (4/5 terriers that have a go) on our morning walk I can keep her under control rather than throttling her on her collar
