Newbie from Scotland (Fife)
Hi all,
Put a deposit down on a 10 day old tan female yesterday to join our family. (Me, Partner and 4 year old son).
I am a newbie at owning a dog but was brought up with German Shepard's so I am sure I will have lots of questions and annoy you all .

Regards
Danny

Re: Newbie from Scotland (Fife)
Welcome! How cute is she?
Just a quick question, if my calculations are correct (she's 10 days old now, and she's ready in 4 weeks) does that mean you're getting her around 6 weeks old? they shouldn't be away from their mums until 8 weeks at the very minimum!

I have actually already asked the breeder about this and they have said it is because they would like the owner to get the pup vaccinated (something to do with different vets using different brands) I didn't question this as it did sound believable.

Re: Newbie from Scotland (Fife)
That's not a good enough reason for me. They have a responsibility as breeders, and I'm sure that you would be able to find a vet that matches the vaccine - there aren't that many different brands of vaccines. Are they just trying to get out of spending money? Are they KC registered breeders?
Puppies learn a massive amount from the litter, and taking a puppy away from its learning/social source at too young an age can cause real problems down the line. They're not even fully weaned until 7 weeks! Have a read of this;

Re: Newbie from Scotland (Fife)
A little update on our little chunk, she is now 17 days old and have been told she is the 2nd biggest of the litter (even males) will this matter to what size she will be when older? She is now walking and has been fed rice pudding and scrambled egg. Here are some new pics that the breeder has sent us.
