advice on 2 pups of different ages playing and living together
hya im looking for advice on letting my 10 month old male play with my 2 month old female puppy,at the moment thy have only played with each other for about 10 mins at the most az my male bruno is so big and rough n play as he's just a baby his self.which way do you think i shud go about it any advice is welcome ive posted about letting them 2 play before but it really hasnt got any easier im at my wits end at the moment i think the biggest problem is me as im so nervous when i do let them play as im jst so scared he will hurt her.I cant keep them seperate much longer its not fair on them all day all i do is swap them over, play, feed them but always seperate its draining all i want is to be able to have them both play n live with each other in peace but at the moment its far from that

I think you might wan't to find an experienced trainer or behaviorist to help. If you are nervous they will be as well. As a breed they do play rough and that is normal. How well socialized is your male? If he hasn't played with other dogs much he might not know how rough is too rough and socialization is critical. I would let them interact more while they are supervised so that this becomes normal for them. At their ages neither would be truly aggressive at this age.

Can you try and take a bit of video of them playing? Not only would we love to see them, we could also give you our thoughts on whether you have anything to worry about.
But JStaff is right, staffies do play rough and it's wince inducing to watch at times. My guys are constantly biting, charging, dragging and goodness knows what else, and they almost never, ever hurt each other. Even when Millie was little and (supposedly!) fragile because of her back, we couldn't stop her and she's always been fine.
Unless your puppy is looking worried, or unless there is actual damage, I think you're fine. Honest, really, truly!

thank you for your support my male hasnt really played with other dogs apart from my friends lab puppy where really all he does is licks her to death i got bruno when he was 15 weeks n tbh he hasnt been the most confident pup he's not nervous around people and he's never been nervous around other dogs that we have met on a walk but he dose get spooked easy which i know pups at his age can go through like he loves other dogs but if one barks at him or when we are out in he hears a dog bark he stops still n shakes and tries to pull me home which i try in incourage him that everything is fine in to continue our walk he is getting better bit by bit. i wish now that i had of waited on getting a new pup so i cud maybe of socialised bruno abit more,i didnt really think much about it jst thought it was maybe a phase he was going through because i have 2 kids in my house is always hectic in bruno jst adores them but since ive getting tia i have been thinking that hes jst a baby his self and im trying to share my attention on both but me being me the kids wanted another pup in miss softy give in.i really liked reading the bit where at there age they wud not show real aggression thats made me feel so much calmer thank you

Also remember the pup is still getting used to be away from his mom and litter mates so he is still adapting to his now life. Most pups are nervous, I know Suki was especially with trains and larger dogs. Try to just relax and socialize them as much as possible.

Another thought based on what you just posted, you might well be creating a frustration by keeping them apart like that. I'm fairly confident they'll settle more quickly together.

that makes sense actually that im probably making matters worse by keeping them apart like at the moment im down stairs playing with tia as its her turn and bruno is upstairs in his crate but even thou i try in keep our play quiet he'll still be able to hear us and that makes me feel guilty n i dont enjoy one to one time with my dogs at the minute coz im always thinkung wot the other one is thinking or doing god im so soft but my dogs are my world n ill try n do anything to make it work the one thing i wud appreciate is some advice on when do u think i shud intervene at play time

Re: advice on 2 pups of different ages playing and living together
I would really only intervene if the pup looks uncomfortable or yelps and then only if the older one does not back off. They do play rough and it takes some getting used to. I was a bit nervous as well when Suki first started playing with other dogs. She was constantly going for the neck and dragging them to the ground. Now she can even play rough with pups and smaller breeds if the dog wants to play like that. If not she leaves them alone. Essentially it's just a learning process and the more you let them interact the faster they will learn.

Here is a link on body language that should help you understand the non verbal communication between the dogs.

Re: advice on 2 pups of different ages playing and living together
Is Bruno entire (i.e. not neutered?). Could be a case of the hormones...
