This is so worrying. I'm always terrified about someone taking my girl, they would have to kill me first but please be aware. Hoping this is a one off and they get the scum who tried it.

I know it's so scary. So happy this family didn't hand their dog over but it must be intimidating if they are saying they are the police! Really hope they get them.

I am terrified of this happening! I live next to a lane and my wall is only to hip height! Marley can't get over but it only takes someone to lean over and seem him! I never leave him in the garden alone, sad really because until my fence is built he can't have the freedom! But I would take that over someone taking him any day!

Exactly, it's such a sad world we live in nowadays.you can't even let your dog in your own garden alone. I remember years ago leaving my lovely old lab outside the local shop while I popped in for a minute. Wouldn't dream of doing that now!

When I was a teenager (back in the 90s) my friend left her dog outside a shop for a few minutes and she was stolen. Never got her back, never knew what happened to her. Devestating.

People are far too trusting of someone when they say they're police or some other kind of authority. Provide ID and proof or back off.

They will try anything! I hate it when he's out there and I'm in the kitchen, I have to watch don't trust anyone! It's just to easy for them to take him! It's disgusting how people are these days! I've been sharing a link on Facebook about a staff called jaffy that went missing back in May and to be honest I think the worst for that poor boy!! He is absolutely gorgeous and I hate to think what's going on with him! You rarely hear a story about a dog going missing and being returned home these days! And as you said Emma my terrier dog always escaped our garden (till my dad built a fence) for years and nothing ever happened to him! It's awful!
