Home away from home
Hi all
My Sister in Law is going away on holiday next week down to Skegness (or somewhere like that). Originally her fella's Dad was having their staffy Buster but now something has happened and he can't have him. They've asked me and my other half to have him but it's too soon I don't think I could cope with another staffy in my house using my baby's bed so close to us losing him. I feel terrible but I just can't do it
Do any of you know anyone who could look after him? or know somewhere they could take him?
The issue is that I don't think he's up to date with him injections as they're not as "anal" as us with keeping him up to date with stuff like that. I've offered to pay for a good kennels or home away from home but I don't know anywhere that would take him
I'm really worried and desperate to try and find him somewhere to go for a week. He's a gorgeous boy but I don't think I'm strong enough and we work long hours and he's used to someone being around during the day as my Sister in Law doesn't work. That being said he is left for up to 8 hours at a weekend if they go out without him.
HELP

Re: Home away from home
Hi Vikki, sorry being so far away I have no idea obviously but i just wanted to say I do understand you not being ready and I think that's ok, they must understand that too. I hope you can find somewhere for Buster real soon. Hang in there someone may be along with something helpful soon. x

Re: Home away from home
I wish I could do it but it wouldn't be fair on me or my other half or poor Buster for that matter. In a strange home, that probably still smells of his friend and his friends old bed and coat still where they always were.

Re: Home away from home
where are you based im in northampton and i work part time at two boarding kennels i can reccommend if you are willing to travel, hope this helps
Re: Home away from home
That's a little too far for me I'm in Telford in Shropshire.
I might have it sorted. There is a guy at my work that has a side business of small animal boarding. I've just asked him and it turns out he is on hols most of next week and said that he wouldn't mind doing it as a one off for £5 per day. He is back in the office on the Thursday and Friday thought so need to check that Buster would be ok for a period of time on the Thursday and Friday without someone there with him. Need to speak to the Sister in Law now to see if he is ok with being left alone for a while and if he is I'll sort out getting him to Stafford as it's only around 20 - 30 minutes away from us. I'll even pay and take him x

Re: Home away from home
Well you'd think my SiL would be a bit more appreciative of me running around trying to find her someone to look after her dog for her. I called her with the offer from the guy at work, which is a very generous offer as he doesn't usually look after dogs and it's during his annual leave from work and her response wasn't a thank you it was a "I'll speak to Rob and see if he's happy with that". I've explained it's the only option I can find as she doesn't have certificates for injections. I've even offered to pay and to take him there and pick him up myself.

Re: Home away from home
Can understand why you don't feel able to dog sit. Some people don't think like us and only see things in their own way. You've made the offer and gone out of your way, it's up to her to take it or leave it and sort out her own arrangements if she leaves it. What more can you offer

Re: Home away from home
My point exactly Ian! It just drives me insane - shouldn't have a flipping dog if it's not a priority in my opinion!
Anywho, she's agreed to have the guy look after him so I'm taking her there with Buster on Saturday to get introduced and then when she goes on hols Monday me and my partner will take Buster up for his four day holiday xxx
