Advice needed on a litter Empty Advice needed on a litter

Dear All,

I wonder if people could give me their thoughts.

I have been in touch with a breeder, the litter in question is here:-

http://www.champdogs.co.uk/litter/37659

What do people think of the parents pedigree? I think I can see second cousins.

I rang the breeder to ask if they would allow a viewing of the puppies to be told that they do not allow viewing until the pups are 8 weeks old (because of the risk of us carrying parvo into the home).

He would be happy to send us pictures when the pups are four weeks old and reserve one on payment of a deposit. We could then visit at 8 weeks and decide if the pup is for us.

Is this fair enough or would you walk away at this point? He was very insistent that he never lets people view earlier despite me pushing on this.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have...

I'm no expert regarding KC pups and breeding but the fact that they are KC registered is a good start. As for not seeing them until 8 weeks may simply be a good precaution, or overkill.

When you get to see the pups take in the surrounds and conditions, this will give an idea of how much the breeders care for their animals and also, you'll be wanting to see Mum and Dad too to make sure they are happy & fit parents.

If you pay a deposit but then find you don't like the look of any of the pups will they reimburse you ?

Hopefully someone that's been through this will give some better advice Rachel.

Thanks Ian and Crystal,

I have spoken to and emailed the breeder several times with questions etc.

I could tell from the way he spoke that he has the puppies well being at heart.

My gut feeling is good, and he is going to send me some pictures of the pups soon!
