Grr :( Driving tests!
Failed my second driving test today So gutted - first fail was with 4 minors and 1 major for not stopping quickly enough at a crossing (nobody was actually on the crossing) and second for 4 minors and 1 major as somebody drove into the side of my car at a junction (I was there first) and I stopped to avoid a collision. Both stupid mistakes and a lot of it down to my nerves. I barely slept last night and have been a wreck all morning. Really can't afford to keep doing these tests at £100 a time, but also really want my license. Confidence is so low
How many times did you all take to pass?

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Aw you just need to get your confidence back up! Anything can happen while you're out there on your test, you just need to get a good run!
I think one of my friends failed before they even pulled out of the test centre as he almost his a cyclist passing the entrance!

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
It's as much about experience as anything else Rachel. Rack up as many hours driving as you can, that way you'll be more confident when the test comes round again. Another thing to remember with the test is that it's not how well you drive but how safely.
You'll get there

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Ah that you guys I've done about 60 hours in my instructors car + countless hours in my own with Martyn - I drive every day and feel really confident. It's just the actual test - the nerves get me and it seems to be other people's actions that you can fail due to also? There's so much to fail on I know I could go out on my own and drive confidently and safely! Just can't seem to pass the test

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
It'll be third time lucky Rachel. You know what to expect now, being nervous is what we all feel before a test just keep yer nerve and you'll be fine.
My OH took 3 attempts to pass, mind you the only time she drives me is when I've had a drink so it's not so bad

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Hope you pass your next one. If it makes you feel better I failed mine over 10 times. The instructor only spoke Japanese so by the time I translated the instructions in my head I was already behind

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Thank you all! My friend took 5 attempts to pass too Inez - just wish I didn't get so nervous. I'm going to book another asap and keep trying, just seems like a butterfly effect - if I had got to that junction just a minute later I could have passed! So frustrating.

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
I failed my first time on my practical. I just had no idea to expect and I failed within about two minutes! My second time I should of failed as I parked beautifully in a reverse park. The problem came when I had to get out of the space. I just couldn't do it, lucky the inspector was so nice and told me which way to turn the wheel. I was convinced i failed again but somehow he passed me. It's all experience and I do think sometimes the more you want something the more pressure you put yourself under. I wanted it so much that I got so panicked and flustered that I made stupid mistakes.I'm sure you will pass next time and then the world will be yours and Bugs oyster!

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Ah bless you! Just drive as you normally would and try not to let the instructor make you nervous/uncomfortable, they don't mean to but they have to be quiet and I felt it put loads more pressure on. I used rescue remedy also which was really helpful good luck!

Re: Grr :( Driving tests!
Rachel, you are not allowed to get a major fault for stopping because you felt you were avoiding a collision!!!!!
I really hope you contest that!
Also, take your driving instructor with you. Mine saved me from a major fault by eye signals in the mirror. ALSO take some rescue remedy lol
also also, i crashed the car in my driving test, chin up duck!
