Morning routine Empty Morning routine

Post by Angieeee Wed Jun 10 2015, 07:05

It's all my own fault but Ruby has established a luvly routine of walking up at 6ish and snuggling on the sofa for another couple of hours with me...in my stupidity I thought this would be a good plan when she was waking up to toilet in the garden..at 6 months old I've now realised she's only waking up to get on the sofa with me and she's waking up earlier and earlier (4am). So I'm trying to break this habit. Ignoring her bark doesn't seem to be working and I worry about the neighbours. So I've got rid of her cage and now when she wakes up I don't settle back in the sofa with her and potter about til I have to go to work instead. I can see her looking at me pleading for me to lay down and cuddle her and I'm so tired I'm dying to just cuddle into her too but I know this has to stop. Do u think this new routine might work or does anyone have any other suggestions for me?
I know this is my own fault but how can anyone not enjoy snuggling into puppies for 2 hours every morning before work! If only they couldn stay that size...

I think just be consistent with the new routine. They may whine but don't give in

Lola was exactly the same. We took her crate upstairs, let her out to toilet when she whinged. Then took her back up. She would whinge more, but a gentle quite lay down and she soon got used to it. Now she don't want to get up the lazy minx.

They do like routine for sure. I would carry on as you are and break the snuggle habit first and then slowly leave Ruby a little longer over a few weeks. Before you know it you'll be waking her up Smile
