My Scooby
Hello!
I'm a new proud owner of Staffy Uriel Red Eso Bonatom - Scooby I have him now 14 days. He is being a good boy. He is very very stubborn...when we are on the walk he goes ok as long as we go where he wants...when not he lies down and does not move. I use treats...he comes to me and again - lies down Any advice?
We have him in apartment... he is being quite a good boy about toilet...we go outside every time wakes up and he does his thing. Sometimes he even goes do the door and cry, so we know that he has to go. Today we were outside and one hour from that he was acting like he has to go...i opened the door and he did not want to go out and turned around...the after 10 minutes he did his thing in apartment.
He is very smart and quick learner:

Hiya from me and Vinnie, you are doing the right thing remember he is still very young and bladder control is weak as a puppy. Your Vid is fab and looks like he is doing well on training. Beautiful pup

Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me
Staffies can be very stubborn so stand your ground and don't give in to the no walking thing, even if that means picking him up.
Sounds like he is doing really well with the toilet training so just be patient he will get it
Just watched your video, wow, he is doing great

Re: My Scooby
Hi from us too!
It's essential that you set some ground rules from the start and that includes that if you ask for something that he can do, you'd like him to do it. If he learns now that digging in his heels works, you'll have to battle with it as he grows up. As Ian says, don't let him learn that, even if you have to pick him up. From reading your post, though, it sounds more like he's not very confident and is coming to you for comfort. That's what you'd expect of a puppy, rather than stubborness. That's also what makes teaching them to walk off lead so easy at this age.
I would continue doing the stuff in your video out on walks. In a safe place, have him off lead or, if you don't feel safe enough, on a really lone line and get him watching you and following you. Just one tip on your video, you repeat your instruction or his name all the time. That's really confusing to a dog and with it going on all the time he'll block it out. In other words you'll end up with him not hearing it any more. Ask him to do something once and, when he's doing it, praise him then let him be until you want him to do something different. If you see his attention wander, call him again, praise when you get a reaction then stop. Puppies have very, very short attention spans!
Do pop over to the puppy chat section and have a read through some of the threads there, there's loads of information in there and questions you might have may already have been discussed.
