Are 2 staffies better than 1
Hello,
Just after some advise really? We are new to the forum. We have a 4 yr old male staffie and are thinking of getting a female 12 week old pup. Just after people thoughts really, if you have 2 staffies how they got on together? I am taking my dog to meet the puppy later this evening to see his reaction really. He has a good temperament and loves playing with other dogs on the park. We also have a 3 year old. Just want to make the right decision.
Thanks in advance for any info.

First of all introductions through a fence or on leads, then walks together and perhaps feeding treats together with your dogs and the new pup.

Our boy was 3 years old when we decided to get an 8 month old bitch who needed re-homing. Our boy Bailey was a great boy and very loving.
However, he had gotten used to being a spoiled only child, and it took him a while to get used to sharing.
Being a lovely natured boy, he never complained (except to knock me clean off my feet one day on the field whilst playing ball!)
He never really took to the new arrival but he kinda put up with her.
But, we know that she kept him young and she was able to give him things that we, the humans could not have done!
They would snuggle together and we used to catch him giving her sneaky kisses!!
They would tear around the field together, chasing each other, barking etc - we could never have given Bailey that kind of exercise on our own!
So, yes, there may be teething problems, but a boy and a bitch are a good combination - we had her spayed as soon as we could so there were no mishaps!
Good luck

Re: Are 2 staffies better than 1
We had a dreadful time last year when we adopted a 2 yr old staffie/Ambull and vowed never to have 2 staffies or crosses again. Well, we now have Millie who was about the same age as the pup you're looking at when we got her and haven't one moment of regret. Millie's a staffie x GSD but very staffie in her ways.
Take your introductions carefully, as Crystal says on lead walking next to each other to start off with, and keep an eye on them to start off with. If they do get on, though, your life will never be the same... Be prepared to have your house turned upside down!
Whether staffies or other breeds, I personally wouldn't have an only dog again. The companionship and fun they have together is something that is very different to what they get with humans. Plus, of course, the entertainment you get from them is priceless!

Hello, well yesterday we brought Millie into our home she is 8wks 2 days. We have a 4 year old male staffy. Not sure if to be worried yet but he won't leave her alone, am hoping it will pass but constantly sniffing her. He keeps taking toys off her & just following her around. If anyone has got any advice I will totally appreciate it. Xx

It's all new but sounds quiet positive so far, if there has been no telling off's. I would have thought it would have been the other way around to be honest. Just keep a close eye on things and separate if anything looks to be getting out of hand.
I'm sure the novelty will wear off fairly soon and hopefully they'll be the best of buddies
