Young pup..
those who have see my earlier post about introducing a new pup to an existing dog will know I have got my eye on a particular puppy.. Now don't shoot me for this, but they are not kc registered and it does sound like the owner has basically got the 2 staffs and the inevitable happened (they are listed as a surprise litter despite her owning mum and dad)..but Casper was pretty much the same and thankfully ive had no issues with him so far..the pups are 6 weeks old, she says they are eating food and fully weaned and playing etc so are fine to leave now. I've asked if she will be willing to keep her until 8 weeks but she isn't. My head says walk away but I have totally fallen for this little girl. Is it possible for a pup to leave their litter at this age and not develop social issues? Part of my thinking is I do have Casper who is only a little over a year himself so she could possibly learn doggy etiquette from him once they have got used to each other?

Re: Young pup..
Thats difficult sorry but I would not consider if owner wasnt prepared to keep pups til at least 8 weeks. At the end of the day thats your decision.

Wow.. What a sh*t breeder - can't stand these money grabbing scum! I would question why she can't keep them for another 2 weeks, but that may not hold you in good stead for getting the pup out of there. They've got to go somewhere, and if you're willing to put in the extra work I would take her! She could end up going to somebody that doesn't care as much as you, and end up in the system a year down the line. Any help you need - we're here to offer advice.

Re: Young pup..
I know you're right, but then I think that there are plenty of people who will take her now and possibly for the wrong reasons (young lads with the 'tough' dog are common around here), and I can't help thinking if I take her I know she is coming to a good home where she will be brought up as a family pet, so in the long run better for her that I go and get her?but then I know that should be the breeders concern not mine! I'm so so torn on this one

Re: Young pup..
There may be extra training, but as you've said you've got your dog there to teach her the ropes providing they get on okay. It's frustrating that they've been born into this situation with a careless breeder, but they're here now.

Re: Young pup..
That is a tough one. I'd advise against it but I have taken one home at 5 weeks and she was okay.

Re: Young pup..
This is hard. As well as what is right for you and for the pup, there's also the question of giving money to perpetuate this sort of irresponsible breeding. I suppose as you said someone else will come along though.
It may be true that they're as surprise litter. Millie's breeder had both parents and was completely surprised when Roxy - Millie's mum - suddenly out of the blue produced 5 puppies. If it is a genuine unplanned thing, then I hope she's at least not asking very much for the pups.
It sounds to me like you've got your head very much screwed on, plus you've got another dog for a pup to learn many of the ropes with. Personally, if it's a genuine mistake litter I'd say go with it, if it's a BYB asking silly money, I don't think I could give it to her.

Re: Young pup..
Its a difficult one....its not a good sign that the 'breeder' isn't prepared to keep the pups another 2 weeks, sounds like she just wants to get rid asap! I would look at how much you are paying for them...if its a ridiculous price then she's clearly in it for the money so I would walk away and not support the BYB (if its the case) Why not go down to a rescue shelter and see if there are any puppies that need good homes? That way at least you know your moneys going to a good cause and you know you've genuinely helped a dog in need. Thats what I would do, but then that's just me

Re: Young pup..
She isn't asking a ridiculous amount- less than £200 a pup. I think it is possibly a case of currently having what I should imagine is a very busy household as there are 7 pups, both parents and 3 young children.

Re: Young pup..
There will be plenty of pics once I have her settled ive a quick question if that's ok, I did post in the tried and tested but not sure anyone has seen it so will repeat it here..
I need a crate that she won't be able to wreck when a little bigger. Casper has wrecked two of the metal ones by pulling on the bars and bending them inwards...so I don't really want to get a metal one for the pup unless it's reinforced lol. Any suggestions on tough crates?
