Too Young?
Jess is a very lively 12 week old brindle, am I being too enthusiastic trying her with a collar and lead or should I wait until she's much older? Any help would be much appreciated..........

Re: Too Young?
I think the sooner you can start the better! Jethro had a tiny puppy collar and lead from when he was that age.. now he walks nicely on a lead ( but he hated the thing to start with ! )

Re: Too Young?
Bruno's had a collar on for a few weeks, hated it at first but now its not bothering him, we put a harness on him from pet at home and he walks very well on it, haven't tried him just a lead yet outside, but would be interesting to see how he goes outside, tried him with inside but he just decided he was going to try and eat it, so i think the harness was the best thing for him

Re: Too Young?
The sooner the better! If he's used to a collar & lead before you can take him out you'll have a much easier time getting him used to the great outdoors!

As said above the sooner the better for getting her used to having it on and walking on it makes life easier for you when it does come to taking her for her first walks.

I would agree with all these comments, the sooner you get them used to it the better

LOL , I have a "VERY LIVELY" brindle too (15wks)
Roxy has been wearing a collar since she was about 5wks of age and is quite happy to have the lead attached ( she loves the sound of the lead buckle "click" ) One more week and she can go out "walkieeeeees"
Good luck

Re: Too Young?
yes as said in the other posts its never to early but i find its better if you put the coller on a day or so before trying the lead as then its no to much new things in one go for them to get ajusted to

Re: Too Young?
Vinnie wore a collar as soon as he got too us!, it took some getting used to for him, like he kept itching at it bless him, but he got used too it .. he wore his lead when we took him out in the car etc so he got used to it been attatched, We had to walk him on his first walks with his harness ON but attatch the lead to his collar as i harness all the dogs ive had and he was unsure at first.

Re: Too Young?
We used to walk Nala around inside the house on her lead before she could go out, and around the garden. I think it def helped getting her on the right track, she loves her walks now!
