Limping/ dead leg?
So about 2 weeks ago, Adam took Rio for a walk and takes him to this enclosed playground bit when there's no children in it so he can actually run around with no lead on. Adam goes out of the area to get a stick to throw for him, but Rio pushes out the gate and sprints over to Adam, apparently forgetting how to stop and sort've turned awkwardly.
The video below is Rio after this happened.

Now it's been a couple of weeks, he's done only lead walks and sometimes only once a day to help him heal. We had a vets check up the other day, we mentioned the leg and Rio lets anyone pull it about, squeeze it etc so the vet wasn't worried.
It seemed to be getting better so we took for a 5km jog this morning, he was fine throughout but i think its aggravated it a bit, so no more runs for a while.
My question is, he walks around fine and is ok on the leg, but when he lies down or sits for a while, when we gets to walk again, he's limping like above but stretching his leg out and carefully steps on it. I'm just wondering nothing else but muscular is going on. Thoughts?

Re: Limping/ dead leg?
Am thinking vets tomorrow, I'd just feel cruel not to walk him at all, even though I know he needs rest, but he doesn't understand that
It's just if its muscular and he shows literally no signs of pain from the paw to knee/ hip joint and all he'd need is rest, is it worth taking him?

Re: Limping/ dead leg?
They have a very high pain tolerance so it could be something serious so I would get it checked to be safe. If rest is all it needs once he is able to go for walks again take it slow and gradually build back up to the previous level of exercise. If you go too fast it will lekely aggrevate the injury.

Re: Limping/ dead leg?
Impossible for any of us on here to say with any certainty.
All dogs enjoy daily exercise but it has to be cycled, like for example: Monday 'Hard Exercise' (running up hill/mountain retrieving a ball). Tuesday & Wednesday 'Light Exercise' off lead letting the dog make his own exercise because he/she knows how much their muscle's are still aching. Thursday 'Hard Exercise' that works the muscle's fairly hard. Friday & Saturday 'Light Exercise'. Hope the above is helpful.

Hope you got it checked, I know complete rest is hard and yes I know the guilt feeling of not walking them, but its worth doing to give it chance to heal

Re: Limping/ dead leg?
Ok so we actually had to go to the vet for a completely different reason tonight as he had torn his paw thumb nail playing with his kong, and had half of it removed but i told him about the leg whilst we were there and he just agreed a LOT of rest, especially with his poorly paw now too. Silly pup. Thanks for all your replies!
