anyone got any tips on getting my 5 year olf staffy to accept our new pup
we have a 5 year old male staff and have just got a new female puppy, our older dog is very jumpy and scared of the new pup and I can see in his body language he doesn't feel relaxed. Doesn't want to look at her or be near her, when he is he runs of or jumps. Any help appreciated, thanks

Its a new thing for the older dog just spending equal amounts of time with both dogs and paying them both equal amounts of attention gradually your other dog will eventually accept the pup as part of the family and not feel jealous. When the pups old enough you can walk them both together.

Thanks crystal. Yeah I cant wait for her to be able to come out for walks, as being in neutral ground will hopefully help.

Hold the pup in your hands let the older dog smell the pup may also alleviate any fears your older dog has .

Agree with Crystal... Little and often interactions. It's all very new so I would think it just needs a little time

give the older dog time alone with you and make sure he has his own space to go if he wants time to get away from Ruby, pups can have very little manners some times and Tyson may put Ruby in her place, dont worry to much it has to be done some times, supervise play time, remember a pups teeth are like little needles so do be surprised if Tyson yelps!just make sure they are never left alone just to be on the safe side
