Harness???
HI everyone.
I'm seeking advice on new harnesses for my dogs?
I have tried 3 different ones so far but neither one suited my dogs - Padded / nylon and leather harnesses that hook on the dogs back. These harness didn't stop them from pulling even though I started training them as puppies.
Lucy will be 18 months soon and little Franky - I say little, but in fact he weights more then Lucy is 10 month.
I'm looking at a front-attaching harness as I'm thinking my other harness only made them want to pull more... I wouldn't mind if I was sitting on a sledge but it can look to other people that they are taking me for a walk instead of me taking them.
I am determined to find a solution so I can enjoy my walks as I've never had this problem with my other dogs.
So if we could just stick to my question I would be very grateful
I have been looking at the walk in sync harness does anyone use it?
Thank you

Re: Harness???
Hi sue, Our pup has the Ezy dog one and we find it very good no rubbing etc we did try a lot of non pull one's but this made no difference. I'm sure someone will be able to advise on a front attachment harness but I've never used one. Just a suggestion have you tried a double ended lead attached to collar and harness? This worked extremely well for our pup and also clicker training him when he walked nice and treating worked a god send.

Re: Harness???
I use the Mekuti. It takes the Walk in Sync one step further and is also more versatile.

I personally don't think that any harness that relies on a central point between the dogs shoulders will have the same effect. That's a strong point, whereas the lead in front unbalances and blocks forwards motion better, and the Mekuti also works with having 2 points to alternate between, meaning the dog can't just settle into one pull point.
Having said that, I would also strongly recommend off lead heel training in the garden, then work to on lead heel training, using copious treats and play. Get the dog to want to be next to you rather than have to be and you've got your battle won.

Re: Harness???
LizP Thanks,
The one you suggested looks good , as for the training I must have walked miles around the garden with treats in my hand and they have always behaved wonderful - followed all my instructions.
When walking them separately in the park while the other one is sitting at the side of hubby is also good -its when they are together that the problem arises as they both start to pull.
Lets hope this harness will stop them wanting to do this, as I spend all my time just stopping and starting until they come to heal- always praising them and only giving a treat when they deserve it. Some days I only travel 2 hundred yards going backwards and forwards for 30 minutes just trying to learn them to walk instead of pulling. I even tried giving them a run about first in the park to work off their excess energy to no avail

Re: Harness???
We use a no pull harness similar to this
http://www.petsmart.com/dog/collars-harnesses-leashes/grreat-choice-comfort-wrap-step-in-dog-harness-zid36-8829/cat-36-catid-100012;pgid=n.B6mPzNCldSRpB66qkSUE340000bb0Sa0ju;sid=W0X9LyXQWW3zL3DILwm5KxXauE6hicbbB-PSjnno?var_id=36-8829&_t=pfm%3Dcategory
When it's a bit colder out and her energy level is up we also use a backpack

Hi Sue,
I used a Canny Collar...I would highly recommend, it was a god send!
You can buy them on amazon, colours and prices vary...
