Re: Bad coat?
Some of them go through a 'detox' phase which can mean gooey eyes etc. and this may be one of those things that will pass after a few weeks.
How long have you been feeding raw for now and what would a typical day or week of meals be made up of? Does he have just the same few meats all the time, do you feed fish, have you added offal yet?

Re: Bad coat?
We are at the end of the 3rd week.
WE've started with chicken an the we added beef and lamb, he was fine on it , no poo problems , no sickness. He has raw egg twice a week, plus 2-3 Times a week salmon oil. He's meal is mixture of all the meat plus chicken drumstic or wings or lamb rib. I try to do 90-10, no offal added yet

Re: Bad coat?
It sounds like you are doing well and the egg and salmon will help with his coat. It does take some dogs a little longer to adjust to the harsh change in diet, so it may just be something that will improve over time.
You could also try adding whole fish to his diet to see if that will boost his omegas and get some shine back!

Re: Bad coat?
I feed it every other day or so depending what I can get from the supermarket. It sounds like a lot but he only has small amounts and it probably makes up less than 10% of his overall diet.
We always buy whole fish (guts included) and our usual buy is sardines and mackerel as they are always the cheapest. But he has had trout and other bits and bobs that have been on offer
The only ones I have read to stay away from is Salmon as it can have some kind of bacteria bad for dogs, and also tuna as it is high in mercury.

Not quite the same but Gizmo has been on Burns fish and rice for a few weeks. his coat's seriously improved and his dandraff is getting loads better too. He does smell strongly of fish though.

Re: Bad coat?
I've found the opposite, amazing coats on day two but then, as Emma says, different dogs have different reactions and some may take a while to adjust. As Emma suggests, maybe try adding more whole fish. Our guys have an oily fish mix for about 1/4 of their diet.

If I remember correctly, Bane was a bit funny to start with. He had terribly gooey eyes for months and I'm sure at some point his fur did dull but now he's as shiny as can be!

Re: Bad coat?
Zeus was the same but I started giving Yumega Plus http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/yumega-plus-dog-supplement-250ml to compliment his raw diet as well as Tuna/Mackeral/Sardines in Sunflower Oil twice a week and egg once or twice a week and it sorted it out.
However, when I do give the tuna/mackeral or sardines, I don't give him Yumega as you don't want to over do it with the Omega 3 & 6. It's either one or the other but always something every day of the week.
