Fight
Hi,
my bosses have 4 dogs. There was a fight between two of them - Bug staffy and Kima shes a African breed( a cross ridgback with great dane). They both are very dominate dogs ,from what I can tell Bug is the top dog. So Kima found a ball( Bug thinks all the. toys belong to him) , Bug tried to to take it away but Kima didnt back down so there was a fight, with teeth envolved but very short one.
How we should handle the situation? My bosses think that Bug should be punished. So they locked him in his cage for the day. How to prevent future fights? Both dogs do get along . Bug seams to be very reactive latetly bud then again there was lots going on in the house.

Re: Fight
Bane had a fight with our parent's Staff over some food not long ago. Very similar situation to your boss. We separated them for a few mins to have a cool down and get cleaned up and then just put them back together. Act normal, keep calm and just keep a close eye on them.
I wouldn't leave toys around if things like this happen. Toys and food can cause big problems between dogs.

Re: Fight
Keep food and toys out of reach if they are not supervised and then start to reintergrate them slowly under supervision.

Re: Fight
Thank you. Was thinking the same, it's just my bosses they didnt train the dogs, the dogs are just there, can run free around the house unsupervised. And the bosses are really suprised and blame one dog for it ,without thinking why they did it. They just think BUg starting to be aggresive.

Re: Fight
Putting one in a cage all day will teach him nothing as he wont understand why he is in there. I would imagine this was a telling off and the best way to handle it us to remove the object causing the trouble I.E the toy etc.
Making a big deal out of the situation will only make it worse so calmly seperate them then let them be and see what happens. If they continue to fight immediately seperate them and keep them apart. As mentioned above, reintroduce on lead and under close supervision until the bad behaviour ceases.
