Unusual signs of agression
Hi,
ive had my staffy bitch for 3 years now, shes 4, had a previous owner.
She has NEVER shown signs of agression EVER, infact she has ALWAYS been completely the opposite, so so so freindly, so so so cautious gentle and kind.
It is so unusual but just now she was playing with her bone and a guest attempted to play with her and she went to bite her and growled at her.
She has NEVER done this ever.
What could cause her sudden change in behaviour, i am really worried.
thanks

Re: Unusual signs of agression
Is she due a season? Sometimes the dog displays unusual characteristics before and during this time. Otherwise could be medical and a check up with your vet may be in order.

Re: Unusual signs of agression
Hi and welcome from us and Suki. Could be coming into season or other medical issue. Aggression often manifests when a dog is in pain. It could also be an unfamiliarity with your guest. If these causes are ruled out I would work on the leave command and start taking things back from her and having her sit and wait on meals

Re: Unusual signs of agression
Bones are pretty high on the chain of resources - she obviously knows and trusts you but somebody new attempting to get involved may have concerned her, personally I think this is understandable from the dog's point of view.
