my boy is too skinny
What should I do? He has access to biscuits all day, and has tinned food every second day. He is muscly, but has a skinny belly. I have tried making food from the rspca website but he won't eat it.

I would probably remove the grazing and give proper meals to start with so you can monitor how much is being eaten then go from there

Agree with Sara, regular feeding times will mean you can monitor how much he is eating. Have you got any photos?
If he looks muscly, then are you sure he isn't just a bit leaner in build?

Re: my boy is too skinny
dogs burn fat as a primary fuel, increase that for a start. i use Kronch Pemmikan bars split into treat sized bits when racing. forget carbs etc you need fat for weight

Re: my boy is too skinny
I agree with taking away the grazing - it's not a system I'm a fan of as dog's aren't really designed to regulate their input.
When you say you're feeding biscuits + tin, what sort of biscuits? If it's just biscuit, rather than complete dried food, it may be that he's not getting enough nutrients. It's always worth getting a good brand of dog food or looking into alternatives (I and a few others on here feed raw, for example).
Also, is he wormed? Weight loss can sometimes be a sign of a worm burden.
Before worrying about what to do, though, I'd check that your dog really is underweight. We're so used to seeing overweight dogs it can be easy to see normal or lean as underweight. Dogs shouldn't have big fat bellies, they should have waists.
As a first step, why not post a photo so we can see (and because we'd like to see a photo anyway!). This will help you if you're not sure how to.
