Sash is getting back to herself after not being well with her arthritis over Christmas, today it was lovely to see her running about on her walk like she was a pup again Big Grin ,we have to get a few pound off her the vet advised us so we want to increase her length of walking time, she was getting only half an hour off lead, today we gave her 40 mins and she still was'nt tired when we brought her home,i dont want to push her too hard, what would you all say was the best way?

thats the trouble Crystal she does'nt realize, she would be out all day if she could and then suffer for it later,i was thinking an extra 5 mins a day for 2-3 days and see how she handles it and increase it slowly ?

That's what I would do Stella, just up it by 5 mins over a few days so that it's not such a big change for her.

speaking from experience i would try to limit the off lead running about time and supllement it with extra on lead walking time. running is high impact stress on arthritic joints and may compound the problem over time. i know it's hard because it's so good to see them running around like complete nutters but it is best in the long run.
