Well that time has come
hi all...well that's our girl phoebe going through her 1st season so she's got on her new knickers on probably thinking summit along the lines of 'are you serious you expect me to wear these' so its all eye on beau from now on one thing I have noticed even at this early stage is her appetite she's even finished before her older brother...

Re: Well that time has come
hi Kathy...no we are not going to be able to do that. the only time that worries me is bedtime they both sleep in separate beds but at the same side of the room but that will change from tonight onwards with beau at my side and phoebe at my better halfs side with a barrier in the middle, it worked before ok if worst comes to worst we have a cage standing by if need be, nighttime is the only time the dogs wouldn't get 100% of our attension because were sleeping...

beau is actually not that bad the now but we are fully aware that could change daily and will adjust things accordingly...

The crate sounds like a good idea for when you have to leave them, separate rooms would be better of course. Do you have any plans to get one or both neutered/spayed ?

Re: Well that time has come
Kathy..our two will not be left alone[even separate rooms] during this time, to be honest they are not alone ever thiers always somebody in the family in the house its just the way its always been with us and yes it does mean a lot of changing routiens and can be challenging at times..to answer your question about neautered/spayed we always intended to keep beau intact and had always said that phoebe was to get dressed later on this year but to be honest I am going off the idea athough I can see the logic[obviously] I was trying to find out on here if anybody else was in a similar situation to me and having left both dogs intact how they got on at this but I cant remember if anyone did reply...

Re: Well that time has come
although phoebe is going through her season we are still managing to get her out for exercise with no signs of attention [yet] from other dogs, she has been bleeding for the past few days and my poor we girls backend is well swollen but we are still out just after 7 a.m to our local racecoarse and after 9p.m for an hour before bed. so my question is does there come at time when its simply to dangerous to take out for exercise incase of unwanted attention from other dogs? or should I take it day by day

Re: Well that time has come
just an update on phoebe...bleeding has definetly decreased and is much lighter in colour..not just as swollen as she was last week, beau... has just been trying to become really friendly[for want of better word]since yesterday morning....but really chuffed with him for doing as he's told at this which must be a stressfull time for him

Re: Well that time has come
new update on my poor pooches...2 and a half weeks in and just in the last 2 hours I have noticed beau Is not quite showing the same interest in our girl as he was...quite strange actually not so long ago he was walking about panting and looking really stressed he has hardly eaten for just about 3 days now but all of a sudden you can just see his body language change slightly and now sleeping but not facing her would be great if he could a good kip then wakeup ravenous and eat the chicken we have ben tryin to tempt him with.....been a streesfull time for our boy.... might not be long now before normality resumes...
