Raw meat mixed with tinned?
Milo is on canned Butchers Tripe Mix which he likes - but occasionally I give him a bit of raw meat ie chicken wing, turkey neck as a treat. Today I want to add the turkey heart & liver to a small portion of his regular canned meat as I'm not sure the heart & liver are enough?
Would it be ok to do this or would it upset him maybe?

Re: Raw meat mixed with tinned?
Hi - well I tried him with the turkey heart on its own first - he gave it a sniff then a bit of a chew then spat it out lol. Kept sort of going back to it mostly out of curiosity I think but gave up. Tried with a snippet of raw turkey liver too - ate one bit reluctantly after wrinkling up his nose and left the other bit - so that went in the bin too.
So tonight's scores:-
Raw - 0
Tinned food - 1
I do know he loves those chicken wings and the turkey neck so next week he'll get those - bless him.

Re: Raw meat mixed with tinned?
Personally, I wouldn't mix raw with tinned food.. they'll both have different digestion rates and could cause a tummy upset.
From what I recall, I think raw takes approx 8-12 hours to digest and tinned/cooked food will take 4-6 hours.

Re: Raw meat mixed with tinned?
I thought it was the other way around Goldie? Raw will digest quickly hence why if you mix it with the dry food that takes twice as long to digest, it can cause tummy upsets because the raw food stays in the stomach for that much longer.
Some dogs just aren't keen on offal! Some times Bane loves his liver and kidney, other times he doesn't. Have you tried feeding it frozen?

It's the other way around, but I agree - I wouldn't mix them either.

Don't feed him tinned food it's full of rubbish, raw tripe or chicken and tripe is well good for them. As a treat throw a chicken carcass in a few times a week, my local pet shop sells them @99p.
