I had the day off work today, finished all my Xmas shopping and made a nice dinner and whilst eating it put our local south news on,could'nt believe what i saw.A farmer was tending to injured ewes that had been attacked by a dog(s) 20 or more had been killed and some of the injured ones would prob die from the shock of their attack Crying or Very sad ,what mindless dog owner would let their dogs off lead if there was even a slight chance of live stock in the fields they were walking in,living in the country you would always know there was a chance of it,those poor sheep, some had been squashed to death as the others tried to all keep together,i hate this world and the people in it some times,Rip poor sheep Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

20 or more killed? that has to be more than one dog, surely!

I'll confess it has happened to us that sheep had been moved into a field where they hadn't been previously, and taken us by surprise. We once had to detatch Harley (lurcher) from the rear end of a sheep. Thankfully the sheep was ok.

This sounds different, though. Much worse. I'm not surprised you're upset.

def more than one dog, no way even a dog with the highest prey drive would take down 20 sheep. they can run bloody fast when needed and gang up against a solo attacker. would have to be three or more of the hound, spitz type dogs to get numbers like that... i suspect it would have been encouraged by some sad arsed owner as well. farmers should be allowed to shoot the owners not the dogs, maybee that would make them take respocibility.

Aw i love sheep, poor things.

I live in the country and there are signs everywhere telling people to keeps dogs on lead at all times, why people ignore these is beyond me.

Keep your dogs on leads on farmland, ignorance is no excuse.

The story sounds dodgy to me. Twenty sheep is a huge number. There must be more to it.

Twenty sheep is no accident if this is true, one would be bad enough but twenty?. Either it was on purpose or the numbers are wrong either of dogs or sheep.

Extreme as it appears a dog can easily do for 20 sheep in one session. A single dog killed 87 sheep near where I used to live, 64 of them in one go.
