How to pat a dog. In case anyone wondered.....

http://www.buzzfeed.com/adamellis/charts-that-perfectly-illustrate-how-to-properly-pet-anim

More or less accurate. Douglas's zones are as follows:

  • behind the ears (divine)
  • under the chin (not so much)
  • rump (seventh heaven)
  • legs (prepared to shake paw when requested, but paws not normally in the fun zone)
  • tail (no way jose)
  • belly (oh, do it some more)
  • chest rub (the supreme order of bliss)

Lol that made me chuckle!

Axl loves a rib rub and the back of his neck scratched. If you go near his belly he'll flip over and kick his legs around Big Grin

Interesting replies Smile we're on nature diet with raw whole carcasses/bones for chewing and it totals about £30 a month. Make all of her treats now, which cost a few quid a month for ingredients.

Lady's favourite is a good scratch 'n rub on upper forelegs and shoulders
( instant relaxation and total distraction )
loves a tummy rub 'n chest rub
enjoys a scratch 'n rub on her rump .. and ..
behind her ears .. and front of ears 'n jaw muscle area ..
goes for a gentle head 'n temples massage when she's sleepy ..
and loves the slow two-finger stroking .. one direction from tip of nose to back of head ..
( thats quite relaxing for humans as well :-) although .. bridge of nose up to forehead )
finger spacing widens as they run over the skull .. starting just above the eyes ..
a gentle paw massage goes down well .. now and again .. when she's relaxed ..
more so with the front paws than with the rears :-)
doesn't say no to an inner thigh scratch when have her tummy rubbed either ..
loves having her coat brushed all over .. :-)
