my boy right front paw injury
Hallo, everybody!
So the day before yesterday we have played with our dog at the football field. I have tossed the ball far away, my dog has run to bring it back and somewhat got an injury of the right front paw. He has cried a lot and since then he limps. This has already happened before but he healed in two days. He limps now not so bad as yesterday but still does. Should i absolutely go to the vet or can we wait some more days?
Thanks for your replies and advises.

Re: my boy right front paw injury
If your seeing an improvement and no obvious pain then I would go for light exercise and see how things go. If it still seems sore and you're really concerned, get a vets opinion to be on the safe side.

Re: my boy right front paw injury
I would recommend a trip to the vet as it sounds like the dog is in obvious pain. Please let us know how you get on.

What do you see when you look at his paw?

This is a video of my boy. It can be seen that he limps a limps a little less but still limps. I thinks he gets a little besser. He runs fast enough, perhaps the paw sores already not so bad.

Sky is a gorgeous looking fella. From the video you can see he's in discomfort on that paw. How long has he been like that now ?

Thanks for a compliment
He limps now just a little bit. It lasts already 4 days. It is not swallowed, looks normal. What could a vet to do for him?

Re: my boy right front paw injury
If you're not happy with the paw I would get a vets opinion. Unfortunately it's not something that can be diagnosed without it being seen as it could be anything from a broken toe to a sprain. As he's still limping albeit not as bad, I would certainly get a vet to look at it to be safe.

Re: my boy right front paw injury
If your instinct is telling you all is not well with your dog it is worth seeing a vet.
I swear if there is a new and novel way to do something daft a staffy or staffy cross can find it.
Pink managed to hurt her paw 2 days ago. I thought she had just raced round too fast on heathland. I checked her over could not spot an obvious injury thought being young and daft she had just over done things so took her straight back home to rest *ha*. She seemed a lot better the next day so I took her for her usual walk, came back settled her with her food and popped out. I came back three hours later to find Numpty making pathetic noises lying on the floor and chewing her back foot. She refussed to move, did not want to put her foot down and did a good impression of a limping hobbledehoy when called her waving a lump of cooked lamb. She winced when I ran my hands across her ankle and foot to check to see if it was sore.
Unbeknown to me Numpty Dog had done a very good job of hiding a small thorn puncture in the middle of her paw and I had looked for anything stuck in her paw at the time. Her Oscar winning performance as the Vets was about to shut for the night earned her an urgent trip to the vet. It took three of us but the vet managed to locate the wound deep in her paw between the pads. It had become infected. There was no sign of obvious swelling or sign of injury beyond limping dog who had started to mouth her paw. She is now snoring off yet another course of anti-biotics and I am glad I caught the infection before it made her very miserable.

Re: my boy right front paw injury
Thank you all for your help. We have observed our boy and he is now much better. We can see he barely limps and feels no pain i guess. We think he has a pulled muscle. And it takes some time to heal. We wish everyone merry Christmas! Bye bye

Re: my boy right front paw injury
Glad he is feeling better, just take it easy for a while! If you say that it has happened before it may not have fully healed and still be weak even though he has been fine! Happy Christmas
