Very upsetting vet visit Empty Very upsetting vet visit

Post by peppa Thu Dec 04 2014, 18:35

I went to follow up visit at vets to make sure the galastop worked and they really put pressure on me to spay peppa. I already said ill wait till after 2-3 season and I'm not sure i want to do it at all as I had to go through 4 operations instead of 1 due to complications. So they threat on me my perfectly healthy dog will die! Of breast cancer or pyometra and won't make it to 8 years old and if I want till 2nd season there's no point as I should have done it before her 1st season which is complete bs.
I went there today to do again the microchip that travelled to in between her front legs and they refused to do it although that's why I got this appointment said they'll do it when I spay her so ifs he get stolen ill never get her .
I'm beyond upset.

That vet sounds terrible Lily. Maybe it's time to think about moving vets. I've never heard a vet scaremonger like this, most offer facts so that you can make an informed choice for your pet.

Thanks Ian I'm going to do it soon. I know there are lots of dogs dying every day because there are not enough homes but I'm responsible owner and it is my decision this vet maybe care for dogs in general but she couldn't care less about my dog.

If the micro chip had migrated to between her front legs it would still be able to be scanned surely Surprised

I agree with Ian maybe see if there is another veterinary surgery in your area. Some vets do seem to be pushing for bitches to be spayed at an early age, sometimes far too young.

You're are responsible owner, you should not be dictated to. I think this vet needs some lessons in customer relations.

Kathy they were not able to find it last time for 20 min till I showed them were it is. If the worst happens and she get stolen as unlikely that is as she won't go with anybody but bad things do happen nobody will find her microchip and shell be treated as stray!

You may want to consider contacting the link below to make a formal complaint about the advice you recieved from this vet. Are you able to go along to see someone from the Dog Trust at any of the micro chipping events in the link below, they are doing it for free:

I think thats disgraceful, I know an 11 year old female staff who is unneautered, I hope your okay, I would change your veterinary clinic and complain about your current one also, maybe phone them and tell them your problem as the way they are treating you is awful,

Sounds like scaremongering to me, do understand the concern with possible accidental litters, but the information that they are offering is not based on fact. I'd suggest doing your own research and switching vet.
