Skin problems
Hi, my name is Monique and I am a member since july 2013. We have a new family member named Paddy, who is born on the first of june 2013. He is such a good, friendly, adorable dog. But .... He has a hudge problem with his skin. We have let him tested. And he is allergic to a lot of grasses. So we've had medication like Dermalgin (spray works a little bit to give it some rest), Vetacortyl injection (worked temparaly), Puur pollen (it is homeopatic, helps but you can't used it allways) and the latest is from the vet, is Sporimune. Even this doesn't work. Poor Paddy is scratching and biting himself till some places bleed. Who can help me solve this problem for our dearset friend.

Re: Skin problems
Sudocreme may ease the scratching have u thought about walking the dog on concrete avoiding grassy areas. Perhaps you could consult another vet they may be best to advise you than your current vet.

Re: Skin problems
Thank you, Mia05. I will try sudocreme. He has been to two different vets jet. I even get in contact with the breeder. He gave me some info, but not good enough till now. I asked him if other dogs of this nest have these problems but he still didn't answer. To avoid grass arrias is difficult, because he only do his thing on the grass.

Re: Skin problems
Hi and welcome back from Rocky and me.
Maybe an idea to wipe his paws when you come back from a walk on grass, just try a clean damp towel.

Re: Skin problems
Would it maybe help to have a coat of some sort? We had one of these for Bob - more as a warmth thing - but as you can see it covers the whole body.

It may even be worth looking at getting something made that could be worn in warmer temperatures if that sort of thing would help.
Allergies are so difficult and distressing for you both, I hope you find something that helps for him

Re: Skin problems
My boy has untold allergies, it's quite common especially in bull breeds bless them. I use a piriton a day for him and a good rub down with a towel when we come in from a walk
Also, if you are going to use piriton make sure it's piriton and not piriteeze or any of the other ones, piriton was recommended by my vet, just one a day. It takes a while to get into the system but it worked for us.

Re: Skin problems
Hi and welcome to the Forum from Flo & me
If it was just Paws & Ears then I would suggest Thornit powder which has worked well with my Flo. Piriton is something that I have used too.
I hope you get to the root cause soon.

Re: Skin problems
Thank you every one. I was at the pet shop last week and told them abou the problem. There was a woman came and recommended me tea tree ooil. So I bought it in the farmacy and rub it all over his body for the fourth evening now.... Thsi exually works!! He doesn't scratch or hurt him self since two dys nd the wonds re healing. We re so glad for him. The sudocreme was good for the wounds, but dries the skin to fast. We also gave him each day a litlle spoon of sheepfat. He is looking much better and his skin looks more relax.

Re: Skin problems
T Tree oil is good for sorting things out, sudocreme can dry the skin out too quickly and cause it to irritate again, try to get hold of a tub of Aqueous cream - this will keep the skin moisturised with chance to heal without it drying out:
