Crazy new dog laws

Roy Hattersley article in the Mail on how new dog laws will make all dog owners criminals. Needless to say Staffies will be a prime target.

The new laws seem designed to criminalise the average dog owner in order that the police can say they've met their targets and the government can say they've taken action on 'the dangerous dog problem'. Meanwhile, the real scum such as the dog fighters and those who are cruel to dogs will continue doing what they're doing with barely any opposition. In fact, they're probably going to find it easier in future because the police will be busy pursuing the owner whose Staffie barked at a squirrel.

I was just reading that article, it seems that anyone could be fined for letting their dog bark in the back garden, crazzzzzzy

To me this looks like a golden opportunity for any nasty neighbour to stick the boot in by making malicious accusations knowing that practically any activity by the dog will now be against the law and liable to cause problems for the owner.

Any dog thats been abused and rehomed by a charity will be targeted as well stupid law

I hate how staffys always get such a bad reputation, I know more german shepards that dislike people and other dogs than staffys do,

surely they'd need proof ? .. witnesses .. video .. etc ..

like with noisy neighbour ..
a record of the noise / time of day or night / how often .. etc

was a recent news item on evening news .. don't remember which channel
was about dog-laws i think .. talking mainly about aggressive animals
what i didn't like was that all the item video showed nowt but staffys as an example
(grrrrrrr)

Most people think all staffys are aggressive as the media seems to portray them as such.they do not seem to comprehend that the aggression stems from the owner and not the dog most staffys and owners are responsible and friendly.

Behind my house is twelve huskys all living out and looked after but they howel twice a day at least. My two think its fab and howel right back. Now iv got to stop the thirty or so seconds of fun they have together because of some stupid law. That's harsh. PS our posty posts two biscuits at Christmas for them without fail. He thinks this is stupid too.

I'm sick of these laws they change them as they please and why is it always staffsies in the pictures

Very true. In many cases our rescue dogs have been rescued because of bad dog owners, they come with issues through no fault of theirs, and under our loving care, they learn to trust again, however dogs cant talk human lauague, so they talk as in bark, growl, whats wrong with this, its their way of talking thats all. I see no harm in this. If dogs are not allowed to 'talk' how on earth are us humans meant to understand them and what they need.

Come on whoever wrote this stupid dog law, you are the one that needs shutting up for good, and see how it feels!

that staffie in the picture(the thorn one on the lead) ..the one that's suppose to be growling showing its teeth...look again....its sneezing....

the thing with these sort of laws..it gives non-dog owners/people who don't(especially the ones that don't like dogs for religious reasons) like dogs ammunition..one that stands out for me..is...its makes some one worried that it might injure them....they make an accusation that your dog snarled growled barked at them..the police will investigate...not saying anything will come of it..just more hassle of being a awesome staffie owner can do with out.

This should be a law for cats, not dogs. Look at the poor dogs
