Re: Manchester dogs home fire
I heard of this on my drive in this morning and found myself with tears running down my face. I have given a small donation and set up a monthly one which I really hope goes some way to helping them care for the dogs which didn't perish. Absolutely heartbreaking. I can never, ever understand how anyone could possibly with intent do anything so horrendous

Re: Manchester dogs home fire
Listening to the radio, the wave of support locally and nationwide is incredible. Donations of food/blankets, etc, and already nearly £0.5 million in donations which will help re-build the block which went up. People risking their lives to get the dogs out. Still desperately upsetting.

Beyond belief why someone would maliciously start a fire

Pets at Home are doing the round upto a pound on transactions for donations as well as taking cash/food/bedding etc donations and the company also have pledged collars and leads until they know what else is needed.
There is also a general amazon wish list for the Manchester dogs home if people prefer to donate in goodies

Re: Manchester dogs home fire
It is horrific and so sad. I very much doubt whoever did this realised the consequences and never wanted to cause such a tragedy but hope the culprit gets justice.
I have donated by text. MDOG57 followed by the amount eg £5, £10 etc

Re: Manchester dogs home fire
Awful. Though I do agree with the article in the guardian - if so many people stopped breeding and rescued there wouldn't have been dogs in there in the first place! Yes what the little boy did was vile, but the owners that put those dogs in there like they were disposable should also take some blame.

On half a level I agree Rach - but the scum of a child and I say child 15? My god what I would like to do to it - its learnt from its parents but at that age has its own mind. Total scum.

Re: Manchester dogs home fire
Totally agree Janey! Of course, the actual fire, he is entirely to blame and it's just atrocious, but 60 of those dogs wouldn't have had to die it people weren't so irresponsible in the first place.

I know how you feel Amelie. I only saw the headline on sky news and have avoided the detail that is no doubt all over the papers etc. I don't want those images in my head. I know what's happened and am sickened to think of the mechanics of how they must have suffered.
It's probably best if I don't write here what I would do to the b****** that did this.

Re: Manchester dogs home fire
The dog home is just up the road from us and we visited it before getting Lula. At are local Tesco they always have a bin collecting for the dogs home and one for a cats home. Whenever i buy Lula food i always get something extra to pop in the bin for the dog home.
There a lot of rumours about why he did it but we may never know the real reason. The real shame is that so many dogs lost there lifes because of one stupid thoughtless idiot.
