Does anyone volunteer at a dogs home?
As title, thinking of going to Cheshire Dogs Home as a volunteer, it's fairly local and I'd like to try and help some poor dogs find a home. Anyone else volunteer?

I've volunteered at a rescue before we tended to help walk the dogs, feed, clean out kennels and that

I would love to do something like this but sometimes I just don't have the time. Other times I do, but most volunteering requires you to committ to certain hours for example and I can't
Shame cos some weeks when work is quiet I have loads of time to give them.

I would love to do this but don't have one close enough.
Good luck with it, I'm sure they will be very glad of your services.

I'm also not close enough to one to commit but there is one about 45 mins away that home alot of staffys, when I get chance or am out that way I do pop as they are always happy for the dogs to be walked and they have said I should take Ledger along at some point and I can try walking him with other dogs to see if at any point he might allow me to welcome another furbaby into the house

I foster from a rescue shelter.
I did offer to do a bit of walking and mucking out at the shelter but I think they place more emphasis on the foster side of things.

I don't know if this place is anywhere near you, may be worth dropping an email to them and see if they need any help:

Wow, that is close, only 7mins by car. Thanks you very much
We've haven't been at Bicester long so I hadn't heard of it.
Re: Does anyone volunteer at a dogs home?
Went down for my first day today, the volunteers only walk between 11 and 1 so it doesn't impact the day at all really. I was nearly in tears as they were showing us around, every other kennel has staffys or staffy crosses in but at least they have a shelter, food and water and great staff looking after them. I got to walk a big gorgeous boy called Oscar, must have been three times the size of Lola and all he wanted was a big hug and a walk.
I'll be going back tomorrow, and any other day I can

Well done, it must be so rewarding though just taking one out for a walk must be really good for them. It is heartbreaking walking around a rescue centre, Rocky came from one just over 18 months ago. I would do it again too if we had the room.

Re: Does anyone volunteer at a dogs home?
well done! I used to foster but have only helped with walking and cleaning the dogs out for a long while now. Also occasionally do the re visits on dog/cats that have already been adopted which is a nice job!
