Staffie is not eating
Hi guys. Duke seems to have gone off his food a little. He still will eat treats and I gave him a potatoe ear yesterday which he loved. He will eventually eat but with a little coaxing.
He seems to still have a lot of energy and loves his walks. Am trying to figure out if he is being stubborn and boycotting the food we give him.
He is now 1 year old. Would feeding him once a day instead of twice be the thing to do at this age?
Seems odd as when we usually feed him he will just get in there and eat.

He maybe being a tad stubborn knowing he will get treats. Have you tried a little sardines or scrambled egg added just to tempt him? eggs must be made with no milk. If it continues perhaps wouldnt hurt popping to vets but if he is ok otherwise I would say its fussiness. What do you feed him?

Re: Staffie is not eating
as asked what are you feeding?if dried food add a sardine now and again to it,some do go from time to time fussy about their food, leave the treats out for awhile too,no healthy dog will starve themselfs,if he still wont eat pop him to your vets to get checked over.

Re: Staffie is not eating
I wouldn't add anything to his food. We had 14 years with a fussy eater and wouldn't wish that on anyone. Cut out all treats and I think you should always feed your dog twice per day, 1/3 on a morning, 2/3 on an evening.
I'm not assuming anyone does, but for anyone who does, no table scraps! Especially with a fussy eater.

Re: Staffie is not eating
sometimes mt boy will just go off the food for no apparent reason. dogs are very much a feast or famin creature with metabolic systems that are well able to deal with no food for a couple of days.
I've worked marley through a while weekend before and hes refused to eat anything even his fav fish stew and then all of a sudden he is clearing his bowl and ripping the bin to shreds!
my girl Laska on the other hand is the animal equivilent of a pedal bin...
