kids are like cats!
now the heading of this topic may make some of you think "huh what is she talking about" but believe me all will become clear, bear with me!
i have never been a cat person, never will be. they're ok but ive never wanted one and never will. now i have very much the same feeling about children - i know a lot of you have them and thats lovely and im sure they are all adorable but there are never going to be any ankle biters produced in this household.
if i ever go to a friends who have cats they seem to sense my lack of affection for them and proceed to lavish their "leg weaving, purring, look at me im adorable" techniques on me for the entire stay trying to convert me. Now i have the same theory about kids, they have this sixth sense for identifying and locating adults who really arent "kiddy people" and become obsessed with you.
This happens at every gathering i go to where kids are present and last night was no exception so much so i considered changing my name from "Auntie Nicola". Auntie Nicola come and play/Auntie Nicola guess what I did at school this week/Auntie Nicola guess what happened in*insert name of a childrens cartoon ive never heard of* this week/Auntie Nicola can you get me a coke - and what do you parents do........................you sit there laughing until tears run down your face watching me struggle to talk "kiddy"(im sure you set this up for your own amusement telling the kids that Auntie Nicola really loves children but doesnt have any so little Jonny should be really nice to her).
see Kids and cats - no difference!

Couldn't agree more! I'm certainly not child friendly, nor will I ever be, so why they feel the need to spend time with me I will never know
Hope you had a good night

Re: kids are like cats!
Awwwwww I LOVE my puddy-tatt Tom, and he's curled up on the arm of the couch next to me as I type with his head resting on the edge of the laptop ( he knows he's not allowed on my lap with the laptop, so gets as close as he can ) He really is a Mummys boy.... He's a rescue and he knows that I would do ANYTHING for him.
Got 2 kids too (age 14 and 12), and I love them to bits.....although the attitudes sometimes strike a nerve.
Just goes to show how different we all are.
