earth tremor/quake

I kind of missed it! Was sitting having lunch with the dogs at my feet and it just sounded like a massive truck going past and the windows rattled a little. But where mum and dad are, mum said she felt like the building was sinking and she was terrified...and she felt two. My OH works up the road from them and didn't feel it

Re: earth tremor/quake
My poor mum's really freaked out. There are reports of buildings collapsing at the epicenter of what they are now calling a quake. How scary.

It's terrible, but I have to agree with this Tweet:
Gotta love South Africans. In case of #earthquake:
1. tweet about it
2. retweet your friends
3. update your status
4. consider where to run

They're saying 5.3 Steve. Reports coming in now of miners being trapped underground and so far 1 casualty accounted for.

Re: earth tremor/quake
I've only experienced an Earthquake once and it's a very strange feeling.
I was on honeymoon (with the OH) on the island of Zante sat in a restaurant when all the staff suddenly dropped everything and legged it outside... thanks for getting us out
Was laying on the beach the next day and you could feel the tremours run beneath you... most spooky ! later we were on a coach trip round the island and stopped off at an old church, the rep showed us in and left us to wander around, she was outside and I asked her why she didn't come in to escape the relentless sun. She pointed at the wall of the church with the biggest crack ever and went onto say... that wasn't there yesterday
The funniest thing though, we were walking back to our hotel in the evening (hand in hand as you do when first married) and there was this huge metal sign on the side of the road held up by scaffold poles, it rattled like mad as we passed and i said all innocently "Blimey misses, are you that drunk that you walked into that sign" she was not impressed
So I can hand on heart, say, that the Earth moved for my OH on our honemoon

Re: earth tremor/quake
I hate earthquakes. The one we had here in 2011 was a 9.1 and scared the crap out of me
