Yes Winston is a pig, I know that already..... he loves his food... he has 3 meals of puppy polony daily plus unlimited access to dry puppy kibble. Thought I would give him a couple of raw chicken necks to chew on.. I saw the whole thing.. he just vacuumed them both up and swallowed them whole... all over in about 5 seconds!! So I held one hoping he might start chewing on it.. he pulled it out my hand.. and down his throat it went. Any suggestions?? Now I am paranoid knowing he has all these whole chicken necks in his guts. No wonder I am so grey!! He is such a hungry gutted little thing!!

Laughing I did the same when Roxy was Winston age, and she did the exact same thing.....swallowed them almost whole. I held on to one TIGHT and made sure she chewed it properly. I think being so young she was scared somebody would come and steal the tasty morsel away from her so she got it down quick Big Grin

I have given her a couple since, but backed away a bit so she would not think I was going to take it, and she chewed them a little better.

Charlie does exactly the same thing! I quite often give him chicken necks/wings etc and they go down whole. When e was about 4/5 months old, I gave him a huge pork loin steak that was going spare, he wolfed that down in one!! They are gutsy little pigs!

Millie & Rascal both seem to have got the hang of chewing the chicken necks without too much problem, although the last inch or so tends to disappear in one gulp.

Have you tried a frozen one? It won't be so easy to slip down his throat & he might chew it!

thanks for that suggestion Caryll.. I wasn't sure if I should freeze them but you have motivated me to do that. Will let you know what happens.... Smile

If not, you may need to get him started with a longer bone - lamb necks/spines or even turkey or duck necks.

yeah honestly he is such a greedy git... he gets 3 meals a day plus puppy kibble but if I try to sneak any food to Jethro, Winston is there crying and begging like he hasn't eaten for a month of Sundays!!
