Has anyone taken their Staffy on a train? If so what was your experience? My daughter & family live outside of Bournemouth and I want to take Milo down to stay with them quite often.

I can't see any problems with using the train. As long as you travel outside of rush hour I'm sure all will be fine.  Smile

Trains are dog friendly so there shouldn't be any problem. Stella often used the metro with me which were shortish journey's. However, we traveled from Newcastle to Birmingham a few years ago which took approx 3 hours. Traveled back the same day too but Stella was as good as gold.

That's great to know. From Leicester it's an hour to change at Birmingham then onto the train to Southampton which takes about 3 hours.

Its just the toilet thing with Milo. He'll just have to go on the train platform  Sad

I'm sure Milo would be fine on the train, could you make sure that he has a good walk before travelling ?

Yes I'd make sure he's had a good run also probably need to cut down on his water before the journey although its only 2.1/2 hours on the longest trip. I'd make sure he had his stagbar too to while away the hours lol.

Moo goes on the train a lot - longest journey was Exeter think it was about 4 hours all in all - we have been to London and used the tubes although they have really clamped down that no dogs on escalators.

You'll be fine, the only problem I had was I needed the loo and every time I have to hope the people sat by the loo will hold her! Not had a problem yet lol Xx

Enjoy!

Nothing - I wouldn't suggest taking a chew though as there is no room at all, you need to get a seat with a table so they can sit under it or you can't walk down the isle.

Moo is great she just sleeps Smile

That's given me loads of confidence janey - many thanks. I love the bit about the loo too - it had crossed my mind. I think Milo would want to sit in their lap tho lol,

That's what I'd do - she could then lie under the table with her chew. I would go out of rush hour too. The last time i went on my own I had the carriage all to myself and another lady.

Wow thats a bit mean. We can take them on the bus too without charge which is handy. I've taken him on the bus once so far but will try him again on a longer trip next time then a little train ride into town and bus back
