Shelter/ ended up with a staff type pooch
Hello ! to all . We went to a shelter to find a family dog last Saturday. Since we ended up with a ( acording to shelter papers) an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. I figured I would look for a place to learn about this type of dog. Here we are. I will try to post a picture . Maybe some of you might give your opinions on anything you might observes . The last few days have shown that she is good with people, kids ,my two cats , and other dogs.

Re: Shelter/ ended up with a staff type pooch
Thank you for the warm welcome . Here is another picture and a little more about Saphie. As much as we would like to Lounge on the couch with Saphie, we will be discouraging her from laying on the couch . Except for this one time of course . She did you score a new, cozy brown blanket .
She is 5 years old . The previous owner bred her. The nipples on her belly are protruding pretty far . According to the shelter staff , the male dog that was with her no longer liked her after he was fixed . This is why she has a scar on her head . She is 41 pounds and on the thin side . The vet said that she could use 2 or 3 more pounds . It was sad to see that nearly every dog in the place was a pitbull of some sort .
We are in the process of training her not to pull on the leash . With only a few attempts ,she is already picking it up . We are currently crating at night and when we are not home . To make certain that there are no cat and dog scuffles when we are not present . She is a bit of a lounger and recently has started alerting us when someone is at the door . There must not have been any tall stairway in her previous home . I've had to carry her down long flights of stairs but she is improving on this . Climbing up the stairs is no problem .

How did you choose her/she choose you? My (rescue) dog was scared of stairs at first. We had to carry him down to the train platform when we got him.

She was one if two that was good with cats . The other was a Rottweiler German Shepherd mix . We visited and walked her twice at the shelter. There was slim pickings but we scored with an awsome pooch.
