Don't know how Spud will cope without me. Empty Don't know how Spud will cope without me.

I'm going to TITP at the weekend and spuds going to live with my mum and brother for the weekend.
He gets on brilliant with them but anytime I've left him there for like an hour or two he cries n looks out the window for me. Also I have an enclosed garden so I can leave back door open almost all day and night when I'm in so he can come and go for toilet and a sunbathe, mum don't have that, and he likes to go exploring so he has to be a lead at all times when outside hers, the longest he's been away from me is less than a day n now I'm leaving him for 4days, i know I'm gonna miss him and worry about him.
Anyone advice I can give to my mum and bro incase he's crying or depressed?
I'm stressing about it and he might be fine n not even miss me the wee rascal Big Grin

Can you get your brother to stay at your house?

I would suggest this too. He will be more relaxed at home in familiar surroundings.

We' r always at my mums, n that was the first place we went when I got him. It's just the fact she has no dog safe garden that worries me, if it comes to it someone will need to go live in my house with him, just means I'll need to tidy up before I go haha

It's always good for a dog to try new experiences. Gives him/her confidence.

when i first went away leaving Ledger at my parents probably daft but I left a tshirt (wore it to sleep in for a night) and put it over an old cushion as I knew he'd be sleeping in the conservatory with their dog. Think we probably worry more than them, just had a chat with the kennels where he goes for daycare and voiced my concerns over leaving him there over night. Was reassured that when there he just curls up and sleeps most of the day (apart from his random 10 min hang off the sliding door to the outdoor bit of cage) and they find that after a night or two most dogs just accept the new routine

We left Debo for the first time in April, and it was in doggy hotel. We were so worried. So we left him my OH tshirt. He was fine only cried at night, it was because he was locked in his room for the night and could here people in the house and wanted to be close to them. So I think as long as he has someone around he will be fine. He might be upset for a day, but will be fine.

Agree with those above, I'm sure he will be fine after he has settled in. Good option may be to have someone stay at your home with him so he is in familar surroundings while you are not there, and with a secure garden even better.

if they will get them to come round to yours,he'll be more relaxed in his own house with all the normal smells and his things there,if he does go to your mums get her to do lots of things to distract him, lots of walks, get a kong for him and fill it with yummy things, make him feel like he's on his hols too  Big Grin
