cant cope with this.....
my dog ALWAYS has bad wind,im feeding him dry food mixed with half a tin of wet food as he wont eat dry food alone, i have tried changing his brand of food many time but its not helping i cant cope anymore its so bad lol...ive tried just leavin the dry food down for him but it takes him about 2days to start eating it,and even then its only little portions...will he go thin if i was to stop feeding the wet food and just give him dry food because he really dosnt eat as much as he should if i just offer dry?
its getting to the point that im locking him in the kitchen just to keep the smell away from me,and when i go into the kitchen it smells like he has done a poo but he hasnt its just his bad wind.....arggghhhhh

Re: cant cope with this.....
The farts are potent aren't they lol
The dog food you feed him has to be the only food he eats...period! All dogs love hanging around the kitchen or living room when other food is around. If you feed him some of your food like white/red meats, bread etc he'll just wanna eat that stuff and not give the normal dog food a second thought.
I had this issues with Jack some months ago. He now only eats the proper dog food now. Everyone in my family has been instructed not to give him any other sort of food.

Re: cant cope with this.....
Polly was always really bad and we tried all kinds of dog foods trying to make it stop
She has got really bad allergies which make her itch, and scratch her skin to shreds and we were advised to try her on a raw diet, something we weren't really happy about for many reasons, but we went with what was best for Polly, and a wonderfull side effect is she now only has wind just before she has to go out and it works out so much cheaper than the fish 4 dogs salmon she was on before

Re: cant cope with this.....
I started feeding my dog raw from the day i got her, 75% raw meat and 25% veggies. I had a pittbull terrier before and she hardly touched her food only if there was wet food in it. sometimes she didnt eat for 3 days. Now that I feed my dog raw, her food bowl is empty all the time. do ur research if you decide to switch, it is a little more exspensive but your dog will have a beautiful shiny coat, more energy and will live longer!!

Just leave the food down, the dry food I mean, eventually he'll eat. Or just fast him for 2 days with hard/medium excersise and then at the end of his two days present him with some dry food, if he turns his nose up at it, just don't feed him again for a day or so. It works.

Re: cant cope with this.....
In my experience and I was told this from a dog trainer - dont feed wet and dry food together as they digest it at different times. Mine wouldnt eat just dry - so I drizzle some salmon oil over it - and she loves it !
maby worth a try ?

If you're interested in trying raw, have a read through these sites first...
http://www.rawmeatybones.com/petowners/whatisrmb.php

3 days (or more) is far too long to leave a dog without food; if they're going that long, there's something not right! And to hard exercise a dog without proper nutrition can be dangerous.
I'm all for leaving it 24 hours or so, maybe even 2 days, but no more than that.

Ledger has JWB and has his stinky moments but is generally ok he is quite happy with dry but (usually for breakfast) I add a little bit of hot water and the enhanced smell really gets him excited. I let it stand while I make my breakfast then pop some cold on to cool it into a nice gravy it also really slows down his eating

Re: cant cope with this.....
You could always try the doggie gravy that you can buy in the large pet stores. It's lower in salt than the gravy for humans. Either that, or pour some meat juices (from your roast dinner etc) over his food.
P.S. This is supposed to help, although I haven't tried it myself....

Frank's on a grain free food because of hair loss around his eyes. Since being on it his hair has grown back, his coat is healthy and shiny and best of all NO, errr "wind" issues
He's on First Mate - Australian Lamb (Dry) and Evo Wet. Worked well for us.
