Something to clean her teeth with.
Hi, tried a search and come up blank.
Rosie is a 8 year old staffie, been eating her main meal raw for about 2 years and been completely raw for about 3 months. We use to give her dentastix everyday to keep her teeth clean and breath less smelly, but at the moment I'm struggling to find something raw to substitute.
I've tried raw oxtail, which is great, she loves it, but can only give a piece of it to her every 3 days otherwise she gets constipated and struggles to pass her poo because of all the bone in there.
I looked at Nylabone, but not sure that sounds too safe, stag bones don't interest her. Any help or recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Coconut oil is not only a great, healthy addition to a raw diet with loads of benefits, but it's fantastic for keeping their breath from being smelly
Have you tried marrow bones or even massive bones like shin bones cut in half that she can gnaw on for a while to clean her teeth?

Ohhh coconut oil, have not heard that one before, how much do you usually give on a daily basis. Amy particular brand?
I have to admit my bone knowledge is poor and as she has so many allergies (hence a total raw diet) I'm worried about what to give her. The regime we have her on now is fantastic, allergies don't bother her anymore and she's looking so well that I'm worried about changing things. Is it something you can just pop into the local butchers and ask for?
Thanks for the help RM.

I think others on here have said your local supermarkets sell coconut oil. I usually give about a teaspoonful every few days but I think you can give daily. It's also great for rubbing into their fur for softness and shine and soothing for sores and hot spots.
Your butcher should be able to help with bones

I use this for Alfie, he has a teaspoon full on his breakfast every morning.

We use this on Rockys teeth, just rub a little on there when ever it's needed:

We use coconut oil too for his fur and beath Are little chicken wings and things too high in bone content for her?
We get lots of bits from the butchers, had a couple of marrow filled bones that he loves to chew on every now and again. Some butchers I have seen also sell bags of bones for dogs for about 50p or so
