Need advice please?
I'm new to this but I really need advice on something...my 2 Staffys got out of my garden yesterday.. One is good with other doggies, the other not so much. Luckily they didn't do no harm but the lady said my big one bit her son. My dogs are always around people and children and when I saw him he didn't look like he had been bit. She is now saying she is going to report me and my boyfriend and I'm so worried they are going to get taken away From me. I took them in as rescue dogs because they were being mistreated I haven't bought them up to be aggressive in anyway. They are my babies and I am so scared to have them taken away. Please help!

Hi & Welcome from Flo and me
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Did you see any marks on the lad ?. If there is no evidence then I'm sure the Police won't do anything other than give you a warning to be careful. Are the people out to cause trouble for the sake of it or are they reasonable, if they are is it worth popping round to see any injury and maybe talk about the incident.

Re: Need advice please?
Have a chat with the neighbours - tbh I doubt anything will come of it if there are no injuries, but dog proof your garden asap.

Re: Need advice please?
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have had the police round today. The woman lied about her son getting bit and changed her statement, so glad. They have just said I should get the fence secure enough before letting them back out and this is my first and final warning if it happens again they will have to take action. It's just really upset me how people can say things that isn't true and gives dogs like ours a bad name it isn't fair .

Hello and a warm welcome from me and Stella Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident. As others have said, make your garden secure. There are some strange people who just wish to cause trouble. Hope things improve with your neighbour

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Glad to hear the issue was resolved, at least the police now know this person is an unreliable witness.

Re: Need advice please?
I am sorry your dogs escapade caused you so much worry. I amglad the police were reasonable given the initial alligation but no evidence.
As others have said make sure you really dog proof your garden, there are some odd people around who think its fun to set animals up for failure. Sometimes when neighbours have fallen out a pet can find themselves in the roll of kicked piggy if things spiral into petty and vindictive complaints aimmed to make a person feel scared. You may get a follow-up visit from the dog warden to check your dogs are now secure in your garden and under your control.
In such circumstances it would be wise to walk your dogs on a leash.
In addition to dog proofing your garden check you have a good third party on your pet insurance and think of signing up for the KC good citizen scheme so IF any further compliants get made you will have the paperwork to back your cliams you are doing all you can to prevent problems.

Re: Need advice please?
We have secured the fence as much as we can for now. The dogs are only aloud in the garden when I'm out there watching what they are doing. We are now going out to buy a new fence and concrete blocks.

Re: Need advice please?
My blood is boiling right now! So the neighbour reports you (and your babies) to the police for them getting out of your garden. She lies to them and then changes her statement. the police come around and give you a first and final warning. For what? I can only assume that it's for not keeping your dogs under adequate control. They ought to be doing her for wasting police time too (about the lying). Bloody liar. Does she not realise that if she had kept up the pretence, there may have been a real danger f the dogs being taken away? If she lived next door to me, it wouldn't be the dogs she would be worried about!!!
Oh, welcome to the Forum BTW!
