Tail biting Empty Tail biting

Post by tcwho Fri May 23 2014, 20:50

Has anyone had their puppy try bite their tail and go crazy because they can't reach their tail. Loki goes round and round and barks and gets all distressed/hyper because he can't reach it. Then we give him his tail and he bites it then let's go. Is this normal

Honestly it is a behavior I would discourage. Distraction is the best thing.

We try but he goes off somewhere else. I think it's for attention because he doesn't do it if any of us are on our own with him

Ours does this in front of us maybe twice a week, just gets into a wee frenzy trying to get it lol, never thought anything of it as once he grabs it he let's go straight away & that's the end.

Definitely discourage him from doing it as it can become an obsessive behaviour xx

Habit I am afraid certainly needs to be discouraged, I am sure an exciting toy you could keep specially for this.  Big Grin

Being a 1st time Mum ( well to a pup anyway ! lol) I wondered why should we discourage it, if it became obsessive is that a bad thing, what's the worst that could happen? Curious.
